Is the most idiotic statement I've heard from some seasoned reporters. It has almost NOTHING to do with that. It has EVERYTHING to do with what conference teams each team has played.

Clemson
W over Ranked 6-2 Syracuse
W over Ranked 6-2 Wake Forest
W over Ranked 6-2 NC State
W over Unranked Solid 5-3 FSU (who has win over "Top 10" LSU)
W over Lousy 3-5 Georgia Tech
W over Lousy 2-6 Boston College

Michigan
W over Ranked 6-2 Penn State
W over Unranked Decent 6-2 Maryland (who has only beaten one team with a winning record, 5-4 Buffalo)
W over Unranked Decent 4-4 Iowa
W over Lousy 3-5 Michigan State
W over Lousy 3-5 Indiana

THAT is why Clemson is ranked ahead of Michigan. It has nothing to do with Colorado State, Hawaii, Connecticut, Furman, or LA Tech. It has EVERYTHING to do with the quality of the conference opponents.
