CJ's Last Stand?

Sep 29, 2016, 6:44 AM

I'm glad to see that CJ has found a new team. I hope he can make an impact and stick around for awhile. It is just unfathomable to me how his career has gone. The fact that someone with that kind of talent is reduced to being just a journeyman already tells you just how tough the NFL can be. C'mon, CJ, show them the real #28 we knew.

Good post. I will say this, he did have a Pro Bowl year in 2012. To your point, it shows how tough it is to not only play in the NFL, but be a star.

He is fighting to make teams and extend his time in the NFL to receive his pension. He was amazing here.

There really are no guaranteed stars at the next level. Nuk is proabably our best alum on the NFL right now.

The modern nfl wants big punishing backs who can make their own hole and block for the boring stand-in-the-pocket QBs. They want guys that squat 1000 lbs more than guys who run 4.3's. I had always hoped CJ could transition to slot receiver. Reggie Bush is another guy that was just amazing to watch in college, but has struggled to find a role on Sundays.

Is 4 years. CJ is in his 7th year. Also, because CJ was still on Saints opening day roster, he will make his 1.7 million salary and will get the additional veteran salary from the Seahawks (close to 800k).
