Until we see something different, it may be that based on what they are earning, Chad might be the better investment in trying to fix an offense that often looks unprepared and out of rhythm. There were some pretty boneheaded play calls made last night (flu or not), throwing dangerous interior short yardage passes, when we should have RUN the ball four downs if we had to on that 3-3-5 defense. We had numerous chances to put the game totally away in the second half. Will always take a win, particularly over the Gamecocks, but if Dabo is honest with himself and serious about getting us back into the national conversation, knowing what the problems are on offense (scheme, lack of protection, QB reads, wrs, talent) and fixing them is critical. The overall eye test on the offense this season is there are more problems than just the turnovers at critical times and places on the field. And that won’t get the job done against the current upper tier teams next year. Dabo has won at the highest level, Clemson has won at that level, and we “know it” when we see it on offense, just like we did last night on defense.

I'd be the first to say if Coach Morris was given the OC job again,

he should make up his mind to keep himself parked and build a stellar offense.
The constant ping ponging around in jobs is a bad look in any profession. Some people are just not destinied for HC jobs, yet can create a tremendous career as Associates or Assistants.
There is no disputing that he brought life to our offenses, even though some playcalling became questionable. If perchance he returned to the position, I'd say get back to the nuts and bolts, and leave the cutesy calls out of the equation.

Talent, not scheme, is the biggest issue right now at WR. They will fix that through recruiting.

For me, the first step is a new WR coach. Name me one WR in the past 3 years that has shown steady improvement. No development in this room IMO.

Yeah, I think Jeff Scott will be back in some capacity next season helping out with that.

The receivers have been getting open for the last 3 seasons.

No, we don’t have Tee Higgins out there, but we do have receivers running free on nearly every pass play.
The DJ era was one that saw a guy who could only focus on his primary guy then get lost beyond that.
The Cade era is obviously a young QB needing a lot of growth.
However, we haven’t seen good blocking from WRs, lots of drops (thats a focus issue and not a talent issue), guys not understanding how to high point the ball (albeit neither DJ nor Cade give many chances on this area), and we’ve seen some guys giving minimal effort and running lazy routes.
Nonetheless, we don’t have a talent issue. Again, no, we don’t have Tee Higgins but we have lots of guys who can play at this level.

I don’t think Morris is the answer. Think about who he had to work with. Hopkins, Watkins, Humphries, Bryant, Peeke, Allen, etc. we don’t have any of those guys now. Not even close.

Chad Morris is at Clemson now. He is an offensive analyst. Wonder what he thinks we should do to fix our offense. Aren't we paying him to help? I'd love to know what Chad Morris thinks of an offense he has watched all year.

Paying Riley 2 mil. Some of you folks need to let go of the past.
It is juvenile and naive.

Morris is already here as an offensive analyst. Riley decides to bolt I believe Dabo will quickly promote The Chad to coordinator.

Chad’s time came and went. Innovative in his day but defenses caught up. If he really had it all figured out, he would still be coaching.
Very grateful to have him helping analyze for us and for all his past contributions but you can’t turn back time.

I agree 100%. When he left here, it was time. He definitely helped us at teh time, but not now. I don't think Klub is teh answer either. I think we have whiffed twice recently.

Really because at the start of the year “fans” were on this board calling for Wes to be fired. Now simpletons are starting with Riley. Wow just wow. I’d rather all of the disillusioned fans just go find a team they want to support and let Dabo, the 2 time National Championship Coach, make the decisions for Clemson.

But this offense has been horrible for 3 years. No one in their right mind thinks that any coach on this offensive staff has any type of job security. I think Dabo himself alluded to the same exact thing.

No clue what’s ACTUALLY happening out there, other than we’re not scoring 100 points a game and blowing people out. Therefore, someone has to be fired.
Unreal level of ignorance by some fans.

We can barely crack the top 30 or 40 on offense in the past 3 years.
Not sure what you’re talking about. There is an offensive problem at Clemson. Just because you refuse acknowledge it, doesn’t mean those who do are clueless.

There’s nothing ultra dynamic that any OC can do with a first year QB who is CLEARLY going thru growing pains. We are not even close to implementing Riley’s offense. The short passing game is in place because the QB is not seeing the field well, he’s not stepping up in the pocket buying time, and he’s panicking at the first sign of a rush.
Watch seasoned QBs navigate a rush and buy time. More often than not a QB is going to need to buy some time while in the pocket. Seasoned QBs step up and avoid rushes with relative ease. Have you ever seen Cade step up in the pocket and buy time? No. Do you see Cade calmly moving in the pockets and looking for open guys (which are almost always somewhere in the system)? No. Do you see Cade panicking and almost always running to his right and striking his opportunities? Yes.
Cade has been coached on the nuances of of playing the QB position, but obviously he’s got a ways to do. OBVIOUSLY he’s the reason the offense is so condensed. Obviously.
Judging Riley in year one with a QB on a developmental curve is just beyond silly.
Btw, Chads on the staff.
There will be NO CHANGE in the OC position and it’s ludicrous to suggest there should be one. As Cade grows so will the offense, and there nobody who can turn a developmental QB into a star in one season.

Chad or Jeff Scott are much better than what we currently have. I mean Chad would make some boneheaded calls back in the day but at least it seemed like he had an actual plan. I honestly think we got sold a bill of goods with Riley. TCU was still ranked #13th in offense this year with a new OC. We're currently ranked #52 ( we were 48th last year for reference ). I think people need to come to the realization that Riley's Broyles award is probably similar to Tony Elliott's.
