This is the same information posted on this message board, but the nervous nellies were all wrapped up in their conspiracy theories they could not see the forest for the trees.

When Cade was asked about CCM he said he had not spoken with him (yet). So much for CCM taking over the Clemson world...

Yet again you make a good post. I knew you had greatness in you. Now how about that ladies softball program?

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Garrett Riley is a terrific O Coordinator.
However, if he's successful in the next 2 seasons, he'll be a pretty good HC candidate somewhere else.

The Chad gives us a ready made replacement if that occurs.

So you think changing the offensive scheme after two years and promoting a guy who has proven he wants to run his own program at all costs is Dabo’s plan?

Problem with your take is that 99% of great coordinators want to run their own program. Garret Riley and Chad Morris are no different. A good head coach tries to plan ahead and prepare for when that happens. We have been spoiled with our coordinators not wanting to leave. If Riley is successful at Clemson we will be lucky to have him 2 years. Only way we keep him longer is if he pulls BV and waits for the right fit and not the first team that comes calling. Nobody knows if Chad Morris will be the replacement but it's a pretty good security blanket if needed.

Personally, I don't buy it

Jul 27, 2023, 7:07 PM

Chad's already left once and IMO this is the "Rehab a coach" for a year or two program that'll mimic Saban at Bama.

Could he stay longer and be a viable option for when GR leaves? Sure...but getting the band back together so to speak doesn't tend to lead to successful sequels.

Have there actually been many success stories where an OC left, made the coaching rounds of being a HC, came back to a school they made their name at...and been successful? It's probably a rare thing at best.

that's a lot of variables that you want lined up to meet your criteria–

The problem with your reply isthe lack reading comprehension. I used the term at all costs. Morris was constantly interviewing for every opening where Scott, Venables and Elliott were selective. I don’t believe Morris wants to be a coordinator and if he did has zero experience with the air raid O. I also believe Dabo has the next coordinator on staff but not Morris

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This would be about the worst thing that could happen.

Literally everything would have to go wrong for this fan fiction to be reality.

I think Dabo said the real reason he is back in one of those

clips. He is trying to help Chad get his name back out there with some positive things associated with him. I hope it works for us, and for him.

I like the line “he loves Clemson”

Followed immediately by “he hasn’t been back since the day he left.”

Chad doesn’t love Clemson, he loves a paycheck and apparently job interviews.

Well that's wrong since I saw him at MH Frank months after he left.

Some of you folks seem to think it is treason for a Clemson coach to look to take a step up. It's just weird. Chad gave us what? 5 - 6 great years. He helped make us upper echelon. He passed over opportunities before he took one. He wants to stay in the business and this gives him a chance to do that. It's great for him and Clemson. He would not be back unless Riley apprived it. Why all the whining? I guess the same people that constantly criticize recruiting, portal, coaches, students, new construction, etc

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you’re calling Dabo a liar.

Jul 27, 2023, 9:28 PM

Wow man, not cool. It’s ok to love Chad Morris but no need to let that bleed over into questioning our head coach’s integrity. Some people I guess.

Ambition a vice and complacency a virtue?– an employer perspective that's probably not a recipe for success or a lixury when hiring HCs or coordinators in the revenue deficient ACC and in a state that produces only a hand full of blue chip recruits annually–

What I don't understand is why folks are so quick to worry about CGR leaving and he hasn't called his first game yet. If he's all that than lets enjoy his OC while he's here. I'm excited to see what both CGR and CCM bring to the table this year.

Many posters survive on repeating narratives and common misconceptions. Things like Riley will be gone in a year or two; QB under center at the goal line is more successful than the shotgun; Basketball can’t get any worse

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

discretion is a virtue, not complacency.

For a decade, Chad was the guy at the bar at last call, completely uninterested in Miss Right and hyper focused on Miss Right Now.

I'm not too worried, as he won't be here more than a year or two, but the folks acting like Chad is some revered orange-bleeding Clemson man, much less our OC-in-waiting, are cracking me up.
