Can someone PLEASE EXPLAIN this to me???

So, everyone remembers the beginning of that magical 2018 National Championship season. Trevor Lawrence was a freshman, and Kelly Byrant was our starting QB. The coaching staff was playing both Trevor Lawrence and Byrant in the first few games to see who was more productive and, literally who was the better player. We loved Kelly Byrant, but it was blatantly obvious that Trevor Lawrence was on another level as a player, so he got the starting job. After the decision to make Trevor Lawrence the starter, a reporter asked Dabo about the change at QB. Dabo responded with " It's MY JOB as the head coach to make decisions that puts our team in the best possible position to win games." He is EXACTLY RIGHT with that statement!! That being said, when you have elite players in the transfer portal that are wanting to come play for Clemson, that would definitely be starters and give us a better chance to win games, WHY WOULD YOU NOT SET YOUR TEAM UP FOR THE BEST POSSIBLE POSITION TO WIN?? Especially, when it's players in areas that our team is in dire need of. FSU literally has built their roster out of the transfer portal, and we all seen what they did to LSU. We are in a new era our college football, like or not. Dabo must EMBRACE all tools that are available to him in order for this program to stay successful. IF Dabo, continues to refuse to use the transfer portal, our program will continue to slide into mediocrity and irrelevancy. Finally, it is a dereliction of DUTY on Dabo's part of a coach not doing everything he can do to set his program and teams up for success. GO TIGERS!!!!

After FSU manhandles us , I think Dabo may start to get it. He’s a pretty stubborn guy and accepting that there’s a fundamental change in the way you need to manage the roster is going to be very hard for him to embrace. At the end of the day , he may decide to just walk away . He’s indicated it a few times. We’ll see.

Childish stubborn arrogance continue to deteriorate our football program. If he's "MAKING A STAND" to prove a point..............which is what he's doing, then go do it to somebody else's program............not at the expense of ours.
you're blind if you couldn't see this coming 3-4 years ago.

they don't b/c Dabo has made it CLEAR and PUBLIC what his stance on the portal is............so AT THIS POINT it would take some damage control (that was self inflicted by Dabo) to change that perception of Clemson/portal relationship.
If Dabo is as good of a salesman as some think he is or as he used to be then that shouldn't be an issue...........problem is, he's trying to prove a point and stand his ground.

We HAVE brought players in via the transfer portal.
CDS has been very public about the fact that he IS willing to bring players in via the TP but only if they are the right fit in a situation that makes sense.
He also doesn't recruit 9th graders. I'm sure some team that's 1-0 right now does. Maybe this is why the sky is falling lol.

benefit the team OR make any sense.
he brought them in as favors to the kids, not to "BETTER" a needed talent deficiency.
