Three months running I get friendly notes with my electric bill saying I use more energy than most similar sized households.
I live in a 1,400 square foot townhome.
By myself, cept girlfriend on weekends.
One shower a day. Load of laundry a week. Don't even use dishwasher 'cause easier by hand.
How the deuce am I using more energy than neighbors with kids and dogs and hot tubs and all?

all the other energy consuming systems in it. WTPH is wrong with you? You can't ask a question like that and expect an intelligent solution without providing enough of the information need to answer it.
Check your insulation, drain and flush your water heater, buy and install an attic fan and/or, more attic ventilation. IDK, this is dumb.
How far do you live from G-ville? I'll come over if it's not too far and we'll look around. Do you have a safe? The combination might be running up your electric bill and I can help you fix that.

When we built our house, we would get reports that said "Your home is using more electricity than similar sized homes 1800-2200 sqft". Well, my house ain't in that category. Like 6 years later, they adjusted it to the correct square footage and it's the same result.
