UNC BOT chair has some very interesting words. (Edited)

In the original post I referred to Preyer as the AD, not the BOT chair. This makes his words even stronger and more dangerous to Swofford.
This was buried in another thread. I think it deserves one of its own.
I'll give the link below. But, before I do that I'll cut and paste a few quotes. My translation of the quotes is, "Hey Swofford. Just wanted to let you know, UNC fully supports FSU and Clemson. We're next. The paperwork is ready. Do you want us to embarrass you by filing a lawsuit, or can we figure out a better way to end this fiasco? But, just remember, UNC is walking out the door with FSU and Clemson."
******* (This is not a quote from the BOT Chair, Preyer. But, I had never seen this stated as a fact by anyone, only speculation. It may have been but I missed it.) UNC joined Florida State and Clemson in voting against conference expansion in September. They were outvoted, 12-3, in a decision that extended invites to Stanford, California and SMU to join the league beginning in 2024-25.
....
"I think that what Clemson is doing is 100 percent proof positive that a significant portion of the membership of the conference is unhappy,” UNC Board of Trustees chair John Preyer told Inside Carolina on Wednesday. “I don't see how it is in anyone's interest for the ACC leadership to try and browbeat its member schools from getting access to information and being transparent. And that's kind of the case Clemson is making.
"I think this shows that what is supposed to be a member-based organization is not being led in a way that represents the best interests of all the members, but instead, it's really representing the bottom tier of the membership at the expense of the top tier, which is why Clemson and Florida State are doing what they're doing. I think that's just obvious."
....
"I think it's too soon to tell,” Preyer said, “but it certainly creates added pressure on the conference to address the concerns of its member schools.”
....
“It is a potential conflict,” Preyer said, “and it's something that is disturbing based on some of the comments he’s made recently which seem to support the ACC at the expense of Carolina – that’s a bad look. I think we all recognize that change is hard, but sometimes change is exactly what is needed. We all have to fight the comfort of complacency. And I think that now is the time to be very open to pursuing all options, including those beyond remaining in the Atlantic Coast Conference." **********

They will without a doubt be next to file against the ACC. I'm not sure if anyone besides those three will though. Maybe NCSU if they are trying to be a package deal with UNC.

That is very bold coming from UNC. They will be in high demand so it makes sense that he would want to support full transparency and have all the options on the table to do what is best for those who want to leave. I'm quite surprised by it but appreciate those comments.

The conference is not fighting for what is best for it's members. It is fighting for their own jobs in the conference admin. They know if the league collapses like the PAC then they are out of a job...a high paying job at that....

It says he is the President of the Board of Trustees, not the AD.
You may not know, but the board of Trustees and Board of Governors for UNC aren't always in lock step with the President and AD.
and didn't the NC legislature just poison pill UNC by requiring them to get approval (take NC State with them) if they leave?

You know it's serious when UNC sides with Clemson on anything.

UNC was always going to end up in the P2. Their national brand/academics make them desirable, as well as their location.
But the new king is matchups and they fall way behind CLEM & FSU. Regardless, all three, plus UVA have homes. Not worried abt Clemson at all

I worked in an ever changing business and there were two quotes that never ended, change is good and chaos is cash.
I haven't read every post on the lawsuits but my question is whether the exit fees (whatever they end up being) will be distributed between the remaining schools? If the answer is NO, then there is no reason for the bottom dwellers to join the suit party. If the answer is YES, then only the "top brand" schools will file suit.
