No better way to kneecap a potential big inning than let a struggling pitcher off the hook with a free out.

You can disagree all you want. Expected runs decrease when you bunt guys over with 0 outs.

sac bunts can be good-put in in play and you score and take away the double play

Also depends on the batter- if he has a low average or in a slump….. and if is a good bunter - and who is hitting next. Lots of variables

If said pitcher is struggling, then there may be a wild pitch/passed ball that allows the runner now at 3rd to score. Also, takes away the double play.

You don't know they keep the pitcher out there. They didn't. The next guy came in and immediately mowed down two guys.

Letting a struggling pitcher off the hook with a free out is a bad idea. I know you guys are mostly stuck in 1980s baseball, but it's a solved problem.

Yes swinging for the fence and striking out or popping it up is a way better plan than playing little ball and bunting the man over. And yes, I’m stuck in the 80s w baseball.

When you want to maximize potential runs yes, taking an actual at-bat instead of giving a free out is better.
