Bryant thoughts:

Sep 2, 2013, 4:10 PM

I'm a little nervous about some of the comments and spin coming out of the West Zone on his drops, but we shall see. "Securing to the tuck" from the defender wrapping his arm in looked like a strength issue to me, which is unfixable at this point.

The fade to the end zone, he clearly did not have the athletic ability to adjust, Hopkins style, on that one. The only good catches I've seen Bryant make in his career have been mostly field-stretch bombs using his speed where the ball was laid in his hands. I don't see him as a good possession/third down receiver. I hope I am wrong, I really do.

As far as the "Jitters under the lights, he's been great in practice", that one worries me too. All of us who coach know of players who were great practice players who just couldn't translate it to the game. I realize some of this is probably public spin by the coaches so as to preserve his psyche and not let anything in his head. I think privately, they are a little concerned. Also, a weaker opponent next week will not necessarily answer the question, even if he makes 8 catches.

I think they've got to be looking another direction, at least for options and other go-to guys and plays, b/c the jury is out.

For now, I'll reserve judgment and won't call Allstate (good hands people).

Maybe he need some Fred Biletnikoff gloves

I'll trust Morris' opinion for now and chalk it up to

inexperience and youth. I get that he basically hadn't been used until now even though he had been put in for a little here and there last year.

Bryant has a chance to redeem himself. He seems like a head case to me, but I can be easily corrected. Just play like hell!!

He will be fine.***

Bryant = Xavier Dye

Sep 2, 2013, 4:50 PM

At this point in his playing career. I mentioned this the other day. He has all the talent in the world but so far it hasn't translated into on the field results. I hope he gets it together, as we will need him and or Peake to step up their game at some point this season. Having said that, Peake did look better, but he had a few drops as well...

Bryant and Dye aren't comparable, talent- wise

Sep 2, 2013, 7:47 PM [ in reply to Bryant = Xavier Dye ]

Dye's problem wasn't dropping the ball, it was that he he was never open.

Re: Bryant thoughts:

ok obviously you are pissed he had some drops.. The one ball he dropped he caught it was an under thrown ball he had it until he hit the ground and landed on the ball.. and it knocked the air out of him. The seconded "drop" was a misjudgement of the ball. He turned the wrong way to find the ball had he found it sooner it would have been a touchdown. sorry for him making mistakes in the first game of the season with 80k+ in attendance under the big lights on national tv. Peake had drops, Sammy had drops, So please let's hold the OMG Bryant sucks until a few more games. Remember Ford's first game as a starter.. MAN ON MAN DID HE SUCK! but he finished the season out strong.

we WON the game. and guess who recovered that onside kick.. Ill wait for your response

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He had good games last year

Sep 2, 2013, 4:58 PM

I think mix of trying to fill Nuk's shoes, first game as a starter, and playing against a top 5 got to him a bit. He'll settle down.

Remember last year's season opener? Ford couldn't catch anything to save his life but became a huge weapon from that point forward.

I think that's garbage, I have great hands

How did it work out for all the people who said the same

Sep 2, 2013, 6:35 PM

thing last year about BFord after the Auburn opener?

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The fade in the endzone was a bad throw...Sammy wouldn't

Sep 2, 2013, 6:38 PM

have made it either...Truthfully, the onside catch was more important than any of the throws he dropped...

I'm not sure if any of you have been watching

Sep 2, 2013, 7:07 PM

But, Adams has brick hands. He's always had problems hanging on to the ball. Great speed if the ball ever stays in his grips.

I am more worried about Charone than Martavis. Even though he's only shown a knack for the deep ball that's more than Charone has shown us in his two years on campus.
