The 5 bomb fingers stuck with Coach Swinney and ate at him more than he let on. He's not about to let those inbreds hold up 2 fingers. Other than Charleston Southern I predict we beat Scar worse than any team on our schedule.

Dabo is the best college football coach period

5

Jul 17, 2023, 6:09 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: National outlet projects two road losses for Clemson ]

Even at that he still makes mistakes, if we had the recruiting hotbed that UGA, Alabama or Ohio State enjoys we would win the National Championship every season.

Dabo’s record of coaching, education and culture has changed what others strive for as a coach. His true impact on College football has been remarkable considering where he started in Pelham, Al.

Don't let Streeter off the hook, he was the one calling the offense. But these national outlets as they're called, they make me mad enough to drag them through a dried sand spur patch naked, and make them say I love Clemson a 100 times within 20 feet, or drag them back through if they don't....

I've been known to wear orange-colored glasses, from time to time.

But we would have to lay two HUGE stinkers to lose to Miami and SC Jr. College on the road this year.

Won't happen.

Despite the fact that we lost three games in 2021 and three games in 2022, people here will be aghast and offended that someone dared to predict that we will lose two games this year.

Taking off the orange colored glasses, it’s not unreasonable to think that a new OC, a young and largely unproven QB, a DC who hasn’t proven anything, and several key losses on defense could result in a season where we lose some games.

It seems that any prediction besides an undefeated season where we beat everyone by 40+ points and win the national championship is considered ridiculous here.

And this is why I don’t TNet much anymore.

We MAY lose a couple games, but predicting a loss at Miami? That makes zero sense. Losing to the Coots isn't likely either (imo), but at least that one isn't absolutely absurd. I could see this team losing to one of FSU or ND, and potentially dropping one on the road. The NC State road game is most concerning to me, especially if it's at night. I think this team will be improved a lot on offense. Riley at OC and Kade at QB should be significant upgrades. I legitimately think this Clemson team will be better than every team on our schedule. With that said, it's hard to go undefeated. So, I think we probably lose a game, but it's difficult to predict which game, in a vacuum.

I called NCSU overrated all summer last year. This year it wouldn't surprise me to see them finish higher than FSU in the ACC. We play them in Raleigh sandwiched between the road game at Miami and home game against Notre Dame. Because of where it falls on the schedule and the venue, NCSU could very well be our toughest game this year.

I agree. They always fall flat when they have expectations. They could be a sneaky thorn-in-the-side without any expectations this season. Carter-Finley is one of the few venues in the ACC that can provide a raucous environment.

Jul 17, 2023, 7:35 PM [ in reply to Re: Let the butthurt ensue on TNet. ]

If we lose a game, ND is the only team on our schedule that will have a chance of beating us, and that's only bc they are probably just as talented as we are, but, they have never won a game against us in Death Valley even though they did have a chance in one of the worst rain storms where any game should have been stopped at least until the players on the field could see what's happening 10 yards in front of them!!! I personally don't think that even FB should be played in that kind of a rainstorm!!!

Jul 18, 2023, 10:35 AM [ in reply to Re: Let the butthurt ensue on TNet. ]

ND is the only team with a chance of beating us? I don't know about that. There are several losable games on the schedule. For instance, if we lost the turnover battle 3-1 against FSU, that could be the difference. I'm also not discounting the possibility of being in a tight game on the road at NC State.

Re: Let the butthurt ensue on TNet.

1

Jul 17, 2023, 5:05 PM [ in reply to Let the butthurt ensue on TNet. ]

ND & FSU will be tough but we have em in the Valley. I believe we have 16 returning starters that include several star players. If Cade progresses just a little bit we should be in good shape to make a run. If our WR group has a decent year we should good to go on offense. Our TE's, Rbs and oline already look promising. Wes has been showing continuous growth as he gains experience in his new role and I see him taking another step this season. It's certainly not unheard of us going 10-2 but I think we can get to 12-1 & back in the playoffs. Go Tigers!!!!

Personally I think that Dabo has shown how serious he is about winning when he let one of his long time friends and coach go for the sake of his team playing at it's highest level, and not to many HC's would have made that move in such a short time with a long time friendship at stake for making that change!!!

Re: Some aren’t going to like the portal comment

Jul 18, 2023, 9:46 AM

I agree, I think our depth is solid, but outside of the DL and secondary, mostly unproven. Biggest injury concern imo is LB. If any of the 3 starters go down, we could be in trouble.

Dabo always does a good job of getting the younger guys playing time early, so if we can avoid any major injuries early in the year, I think we'll be okay.

This was just poor reporting - the source article never says who the two losses will be...

"There are landmines. At Miami, at NC State, and at South Carolina are all dangerous, and the home dates against Florida State, Notre Dame, and North Carolina will be shootouts.

No matter what, Clemson is good enough to get to nine wins, just because. The schedule is challenging, but it’s not horrible for team this talented. There’s a loss coming somewhere, but can it avoid that second defeat?"

With what we have returning on defense and the new talent that's good enough to hold down a position on our defense, I do not see any game being a shootout if Klubnik plays the way that the coaches believe he can play, but, if he shows that the job is to much for him, we will see Hunter Helms or Vizzina lined up behind center early in the season!!!

The rules in college football are shifted towards assisting the offenses. Really good offenses are going to score points. Alabama fans probably didn't think they'd be in shootouts last season either. FSU and UNC both have really good QB's and possibly top ten offenses. It wouldn't be shocking to see either of those teams score 30 on us. We just have to score more.
