Brownell proud of team despite losses????

Mar 17, 2013, 8:38 PM

Well I am NOT proud of Brownell... NO EXCUSES. We need a new coach; He was a terrible hire and has dwindled the little bit of headway Purnell made. Brownell should be gone.

That is a coach trying to convince everyone he has it under control. He can't recruit and it shows. Players, his recruited players, that can't decide between DUNKING and a layup at this level!

what would our record be if OP was here,The major difference between the 2 is having Trevor instead of Devin Booker. How many close games we lost that Trevor could have pulled out. Maybe OP knew when to bail

Theres a huge difference between

Mar 17, 2013, 10:49 PM [ in reply to Re: explanation ]

being proud of his players, and proud of his record.

How are we to say he cant recruit when probably his best recruit ever couldnt play this year due to broken leg in the off season

Do you mean Brownell being proud of his team?

Mar 17, 2013, 9:22 PM

Or the poster's diatribe?

Cause one seems worse for Clemson than the other to me.

I don't see how publicly criticizing the team or the coaching staff would have been better or more productive.

And you blame Brownell--fproud of team despite losses????

Mar 17, 2013, 11:11 PM

Have you checked the roster and noticed what a great container of prospects Purnell and staff left in the CU cupboard? Zero rising seniors so OP's last 6-12 months of recruiting @ Clemson did little to build the program.
Next year we will have the youngest group to ever play mens'bassketball at Tigertown.
I agree that he has to ge some more competitive recruits to play in our program but what he was left by OP was very, very disappointing,as far a stability. We must hope he gets one more strong recruit in incoming class and the next season is injury free.

He said he was proud because they never quit

Even when they had nothing to play for .....

We do Chicken right...it's not just for frying anymore!

There was no headway - it was already going away, that is..

Mar 18, 2013, 6:39 AM

why OP left. People had already stopped playing for him. He isn't winning @ Depaul. You guys sound like the coots in the old days, when they fired everyone without giving them a chance (of course, then I think of how weak that just made my argument...Sparky? really?)
Seriously, give him a little time (2 years) and he will be fine, you will see.

BTW - hope you aren't a parent. It would be horrible if...

Mar 18, 2013, 6:42 AM

you raised your kids with this mindset.
