Brownell - 13 Completed Seasons, and only once out of the Round of 64 in NCAA

2011 NCAA: Won Play-In Game, Lost in 1st Round to West Virginia
2018 NCAA: 1st Round Beat New Mexico St, 2nd Round Beat Auburn, Sweet16 Lost to Kansas
2021 NCAA: Lost in 1st Round to Rutgers

It's a complete joke that he's gotten to 14 seasons with only 3 NCAA invites, and only 2 wins.
How can we not find another coach for ~$3Million that couldn't do better?
I just don't get it.

Out of 84 years of the NCAA Tournament

CLEMSON has only made it past the first round FIVE times

Stupid and disingenuous

The tournament only expanded in 1985. There have only been 39 tourneys in the 64 team era.

Cliff Ellis went 30% of the time
Rick Barnes went 75% of the time
Shyatt 0%
Purnell 43%
Brownell 23%

That doesn’t even take into account the 68 expansion of which Brownell is the only coach to have available to him. Without it, he would be at 15%. The ACC was also considerably more difficult from Ellis through Shyatt. Brownell is a long failed experiment.

If you do the math, Clemson makes the NCAAs every 4 yrs pre Brownell. So, he fits in well with our program history (or lack thereof). Not sure why people get bent out of shape when you understand our history and administration’s apparent satisfaction with said results. Adjust expectations accordingly.

It’s really not the way to look at.

Barnes went 75% of the time getting there after only one year.

Shyatt got zero in five tries so that hurts the average.

Purnell got 3 in 7 for 43%. More important, like Barnes he took the team for consecutive years. Left a program solid enough that Brownell the clown slid in year one.

We should not be accepting a less than once in four year average as a coach we need to keep reinvesting in. We know, for certain there are coaches that can do better. We’ve had them. And they had to deal with supposedly wildly inferior facilities and worst institutional support in the ACC (per Judge Keller). Why not go find another one of them and then utilize our relatively newfound largesse and new administration attitude to retain them. Because this 💩 aint working.

Wait are we calling him Clownell now?

I'd like to take credit for that if it isn't a thing yet. Brad, if you're out there, I think you should lean into this one and dress up like a clown for the remaining home games on the schedule. It would make it a whole lot funnier when you start pushing guys on the court. Honestly, I would like you more for it, and I'm sure others would too. Also, please mention my tigernet moniker Thornhillvillagedweller in your on court interviews and postgame press conferences when you explain your ridiculous attire.

CBB is the winningest coach in Clemson history. We should be proud of the fact we've spent the $$ for such a successful coach.
