what's your favorite thing to cook on your griddle? So far, I haven't had a bad miss but teriyaki chicken on that thing is amazing.

Also, did you get the basting dome? It's taking my longer to get the hang of cooking vegetables on this thing than meats.

Brunch burger...Burger with bacon, egg, and cheese

Took me a few times, but finally mastered shrimp fried rice. I recommend the hard cover, as well.

Fajitas turn out great on mine. I think it makes a much better burger than a normal grill. Beyond that I haven't gotten too adventurous, although I want to try fried rice soon.

I second getting a hard cover. The soft cover collected water when I used it alone.

No dome for me

Jan 16, 2020, 2:05 PM

I have used a metal bowl for the steaming effect on a cheese burger. I guess some would call it a smash burger, but it’s just thin griddle burger to me.

Philly cheese steaks are good
Fajitas and quesadillas
Do some fried rice with those chicken teriyaki’s

I did make some fake Alice springs chicken

Jan 16, 2020, 2:08 PM

The other night, sautéed the shrooms, cooked the bacon, topped e and homemade honey mustard and cheese and it turned out pretty good.

I don't even know if I have a Blackstone Griddle.

I never really question the kitchen staff about how they prepare things. Plus, the kitchen is at the whole opposite end of the mansion and I rarely make it over there unless I'm in the indoor golf cart.

Finally a voice of reason.***

The road goes on forever and the party never ends...

I considered that once and thought I was 7spots

Jan 16, 2020, 2:51 PM

It worked and was easy?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Really easy. Just make sure the burlap stays wet

Jan 16, 2020, 2:58 PM

And you'll want to clean and oil the griddle shortly afterwards b/c saltlife

Jan 16, 2020, 3:40 PM [ in reply to I kinda like steaming oysters on it ]

my wife is all you gotta keep em separated (not the offspring song)

after years of stubbornness, i finally did it her way, so much better.

my favorite part about the griddle and breakfast is that you use so many less dishes.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oysters are the only thing I've ever cooked on my griddle***

stirfry, breakfast, fajitas, steak, burgers

Jan 16, 2020, 3:12 PM

veggies, anything really.

no dome for me

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

after researching the dome, it's branded metal bowl

Jan 16, 2020, 4:27 PM

and not really needed. Mine is on the screened in porch, so i have no cover on it.

the bacon press is a good thing to have.

i have a sweet restaurant grade spatula and scraper deal.

i bought 2 squirters (think hot dog joint ketchup bottles) and one has water and one has oil.

far less accessories than the BGE

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

then YES, I do have the steamer dome

Jan 16, 2020, 5:17 PM

i just use it upside down to mix pancake batter in.

I also use it upside down to toss wings in sauce.

Can I get away with only having a Griddle but no Grill?

Jan 16, 2020, 3:56 PM

Looking to purchase a Griddle. But can't see a reason to keep both a Grill and a Griddle.

Anybody recommend one or the other, or use both frequently?

Re: Can I get away with only having a Griddle but no Grill?

Jan 16, 2020, 4:00 PM

I have both but use the Griddle more because it so much quicker than firing up a charcoal grill. The easy cleanup is also a plus. I wouldn't get rid of my grill though because I like the flavor, it doubles as a smoker, and there is something I enjoy about getting the fire ready on a weekend.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

what he said, but if you had to pick one

Jan 16, 2020, 4:24 PM

the griddle.

i can't tell you how many times i have made little sliders for the kids for dinner on that thing in a pinch. hot in no time, cooked in no time and eaten over the course of 2 hours because kids.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh that looks like something for cooking outside.

Jan 16, 2020, 4:02 PM

I don't need anymore of those things or I'd have to cook all the time.
