Feels like an obvious jab at Clemson. Why should we root for the kid?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let's see. A young person that you don't know

1

Jul 6, 2023, 11:52 AM

decided to transfer, and YOU feel like he took a "jab" at Clemson for doing so?

Good grief. Maybe he didn't like the new coaching staff. Maybe he has a girlfriend in TN. Maybe he has family in the area, maybe friends at UT. Even old travel ball teammates.

If you are thinking this kid left and picked a spot to take a jab at Clemson I'd say you probably should find better perspective.

Just another in a line of Amicks screwing Clemson…

Amick Sr led the charge against Danny.

Kids that transfer screw Clemson?

Jul 6, 2023, 12:54 PM

You've picked a tough way to go through life my man.

Not all… this is the first one I’ve said this about…

Look… if your family was on the BOT at Clemson, it got you some help getting in here. Then you pitch a fit to play where you want to play when you are lucky to see the field at all. And yes, you turned out to be a good hitter (except against TN for some reason). So you decide you are gonna take your ball elsewhere instead of stay and play within the system the coach has working.

Add to that your grandfather who was on the BOT for decades was one of the ones supporting the ousting of Danny F lo so many years ago. And he runs a chicken farming operation and lives near cootville!

So in this case, I do not like this transfer. Clemson gave him a shot and coach was planning to further utilize him this year but he couldn’t be bothered to stick with the university that gave him a shot thanks to his family ties, albeit not what I would consider as “blood runs orange” Clemson ties in hindsight.

I would say you need to get in the know. This is a direct result of him having to play first. That’s straight from Lyndon’s mouth.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm sure he chose Tenn

just as a jab to Clemson and the internet fans.

Regardless of his reasoning for leaving he should have expected some serious fan blowback based on what his Grandfather did to Coach Ford. The Amick's need to own their legacy and all of it's implications.

I wish he and his family nothing but the best.

What is wrong with a young person who wants to try to achieve his dream. Pretty selfish on our part to besmirch him and his family for making decisions they feel will benefit them in the long run. As fans, we need to accept the fact that athletes who want to play at a higher level may see a better opportunity with a change. I am certain that a coach worth his salt would never think ill of a player who followed his dream after contributing to the team.

Good luck Billy Amick in what ever you do. I won't be puling for your new team. But I hope you make it to the majors.

Wonder if the “deal” was struck at Clemson

Jul 6, 2023, 12:04 PM

During the Regional?? Would not be surprised if the leg jumpers reached out to him then.

Good riddance!***

Do not exist any more. One criticism and players leave. Bring back the one year in residence. That would slow this transfer mania down some.

If Tennessee tampered during the regional. Does it even matter is they tampered?

"I really wanted to play third (base) somewhere," Amick told the Knoxville News Sentinel. "Just be somewhere I was going to be valued the way I wanted to be. Not from a money standpoint, but being somewhere I really want to be and playing third. Being with a coaching staff I knew that I would enjoy and be comfortable around.

Tennessee coach Tony Vitello) is going to let me be. That is really important to me and a lot of players. Nobody wants to be put in a cookie cutter of, 'This is how you have to play ball and this is how your game should be.' Being your own player is very important for anybody."

Sounds like you can thank your coach for him leaving.
