Biggest gap in the roster for next year....

1

Jan 6, 2023, 6:43 PM

FG/x-point holder #1
FG kicker #2

It's been a long time since we haven't had a Swinney holding the ball. Also hurts our 2-deep WR rotation.

Hopefully one of our back-up QBs gets the job to get them on the field. Thinking Hunter Helms or Tyson portal player.

Go Tigers !!!

Streeter did a fine job as first O Coordinator.

Although many of you refuse to acknowledge this due to your systemic hatred of DJU, the vastly improved play by DJU … especially in the area of RPO … was the result of fine coaching and excellent play calling.

Remove your blinders and enjoy watching our football games.

ALSO, there is typically big growth at the coordinator positions between their first year and their second year.

FINALLY, even the OC has big recruiting responsibility.

If Vizzina and his family (who know more about FB than 99% of TNet posters) thought that Streeter was a bum as OC, then he would have de-committed before the end of the season.

Truly, remove the blinders and enjoy watching our excellent FB team.

Systemic hatred of DJU? Please elaborate.

There's another Swinney ? Oh Lordy... I didn't see one on the scholarship tab, so I assumed we are done, but you are right. Will, Drew and Clay. Clay must not have earned his scholarship yet.

I stand corrected.... we just need Gunn to show up as an effective FG kicker.

Ha ha … not really.

If Clay Swinney can’t win the holder job, or starts choking after winning the job, Dabo will pull him quickly.

Get a life and stop it with the idiotic hating.

The Swinney boys have done a terrific job as holders.

Uncover your eyes and pay attention to our FG and Xtra point units since 2010.

I don't question they have been excellent holders. What I question is there are 30 other guys on the roster that are more athletic and have been there longer that never see the field that deserve it more.

Same thing happened to Jeff Scott when he was a player.

Did they do a good job, yes they did. Did they work hard, yes they did. But come on man....

I get it. Its how the world works. Its not what you know its who you know. And being the coach's son comes with the territory.

But doesn't mean I can't joke about it and still support the coaching staff and the team.

You city boys (apparently that is what constitutes most of the Clemson students and recent alumni) probably won’t understand this, but here goes.

Old country saying:

Never leave fish to find fish.

To the city boys among you, this means that you’re enjoying catching fish at a particular spot, it is foolish to leave that spot in hopes of catching other fish elsewhere.

Swinney boys have been excellent holders. Let’s focus on areas of true need (WR, WR, and WR) … fix this problem … and THEN look for other units where excellence has escaped the team.

So instead of a player with great hands and fierce concentration you think the holder should be the most athletic player on the team? Saban often uses the 5th string QB as the holder as hands/focus are the name of the game.

Yeah holding FG kicks has been such a rampent problem

Don’t forget about linebacker. Starters are solid but very little experience past the starting 3.
