Big 12 Bias

Think there is a UNC/Duke bias?
Nebraska, Missouri, and others got out of the Big 12 because things were so strongly stacked toward Texas. Not sold on the Big 12 at all.
I just don't see ESPN leaving the east coast out of the college football picture.

If we have to put up with the #### at least let's do it in a conference without Swofford. Doesn't hurt to get paid a little more to do it as well. By the time we ##### slap Texas a few times it won't matter anyway.

This is a different Big XII

all schools have signed a 13 yr. grant of rights, so no one is going anywhere. They have a new TV contract that rivals the SEC now... and will be better after adding teams.
New commissioner and Texas isn't yielding as much power.
Different time.

that's a great catch phrase yorkie - grant of rights.

it's only those rights specifically granted.
OU and Texas Do Not Need the Money. When you deal with people that don't, that 'grant of rights' isn't worth the paper it's written on.
contracts are made to be made, remade and broken.
that old dog in austin ain't learnin to play nice overnight. they don't need anything except the easiest path into the bcs title, whatever that looks like.

The Big XII is setting themselves up to look as good

as any other conference, so I'm not sure where Texas would want to go. Yes, the Big XII almost fell apart last year, but it is a completely overhauled conference now. I think some lessons were learned and Texas knows they have to work with the other conference members to survive in today's age. But that's no guarantee obviously, just an opinion. Only time will tell.

there are real decisions to be made and real information will be used to make them, not the 95% assumption that's been bantered about.

I've never heard a fan of a Big 12 school say the refs were biased for Texas in football or Kansas in basketball. The same is true with Alabama & Kentucky in the SEC. The only conference that puts up with biased refs is the ACC.

I hate ACC refs. But every conference sucks. Go ask any SEC fan about Penn Wagers.

They talk about bad calls in other conferences, but it's nothing like the obvious UNC-Duke bias in the ACC. Basketball games against those two are practically fixed.

I totally get that. But every conference has awful refs, who at least appear sometimes to rip games away from one team and hand it to another. Go ask Nebraska about their Big 12 title game loss to Texas in 2009.
My point is that you'll find horrible refs everywhere. And you're likely to see the bias the closer you are to a situation.

Fans Will Soon Be Mad at Big 12 Officials Frank Giardina
Often, I receive e-mails and phone calls from WVU fans complaining about the officiating in the Big East Conference. With West Virginia's upcoming departure from the Big East, the calls and notes have picked up this spring as the fans in our state are now convinced there is a conspiracy among the officials to "stick it to the Mountaineers."
One note I received said that "I can't wait to put the Big East in my rear view mirror because I am fed up with Big East basketball officiating."
I am here to offer you this warning. It will take less than a half of a hoops season next winter before you feel the same way about the officiating in the Big 12. Does that mean the officiating in the Big East is bad and that the officiating in the Big 12 will be worse? No.
My point is simply this. You, as a fan base, will never be happy with the officiating in your league, no matter where you play. That is just the way it is.
It won't take long before you "hate" the Big 12 officials just as much as you "hate" the Big East.
It is so predictable it is laughable.
Every fan base that I know of "hates" the officials who do their games.
In the ACC, North Carolina fans hate the ACC Officials. Why? Because they think the favor Duke and Coach K. Duke hates the ACC officials also. Why? They think they favor UNC. Maryland, N. C. State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, you name it. They all hate the officials in their league.
Do you think fans of Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Purdue, Iowa, etc. like the officiating in the Big 10. No. Trust me. They don't.
In the SEC, Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Florida, etc. all joke about the SEC officials being the worst in the country. Does that mean that they are? Certainly not.
So, go ahead and hate on the Big East officials the rest of this basketball season. Soon, you will feel the same way about the Big 12. It is the nature of the beast. You will have the same complaint about officiating next winter. Just remember to change the name of the conference when you write.

At least Texas cares about football….

Nebraska left because they couldn't compete with the Big 12 as a whole, so they went the Big 10 and still couldn't compete with the higher level teams there.. And Mizzou left because they thought the Big 12 was falling apart. Texas having a supposed advantage hasn't helped them the past two seasons.
