Best BBQ in Memphis

I am heading to Memphis this weekend for the first time. Any suggestions on the best BBQ joint up there? Any other suggestions on attractions to see? Definitely plan to check out Beale Street. Thanks in advance!

avoid crossing the Mississippi River, took us 3 hours to cross it last week with the I40 bridge out. We are at Central BBQ on summer ave and it was good but in a pretty rundown area

Central BBQ - But make sure you go to the one

next to the Civil Rights Museum/Downtown. I've been to a couple, and this one was the best. Really good ribs. Also, walking distance from the historic Lorraine Motel.

Lived in Memphis in 2016 for a year. Central BBQ ribs were the best we found. Rendezvous Nachos are a treat but I found the babyback ribs to be hit or miss. They are cooked with gas, no smoke but it's a great place to visit.

As a resident Memphian, Central BBQ is best. I like Interstate BBQ as well for a sloppy plate of rib tips. The Civil rights museum and the record studios are all good to visit. I also like Old Dominic Distillery.

My favorites are Corky's for ribs and the Commissary in Germantown for sandwiches. The Rendezvous is unique and safe in the evening although you go down an alley to get there. It is a couple of blocks from Beale St. I'm not sure I would go to Central or Interstate at night. Those who recommended them can give better advise since I haven't been in a few years.

Interstate is best for lunch if you get uncomfortable with a little sketch. All Central locations are fine no matter the time of day in my opinion.

Even Tops, which is more like a McDonald's, has great sandwiches at a very good price. It's also quick.

Not BBQ related, but you should also experience; 1). The “flippers” on Beale 2). Gus Fried chicken (good stuff)

Skip Gus's in Memphis

If you can go a little east on I-40 to Mason, TN to the original Gus's. Fantastic chicken, of course, at the hole in the wall that started it all.

BB Kings usually has some great live music and has a cool restaurant on the 3rd floor called Itta Bena. Dyers on Beale St. has great burgers and supposedly has been using the same grease for 65 plus years. Sun Records, Graceland, and the Peabody Hotel are worth visiting.

Actually, Dyers says they have been using the same grease for 100 years. And when they opened a second location, they transported some of the original grease via armored car to the new restaurant.
