First of all let me say that I was a Bellamy fan although he definitely had some issues to work on, pass protection and ball security. I hope he figures his life out.
Second, obviously having Bellamy created for more competition among the RB's. I really hope, however, that the rotation behind Ellington is motivated by the loss of Bellamy. Howard has definitely shown flashes of what he can do, but still has some progress to make. I do feel at the beginning of the season he will be the number two back. McDowell should get his number called on more in certain situations, though I don't think he would ever fall into the number two roll. It's difficult to make a clear judgement about him due to his limited reps. He has sat behind some very talented backs at Clemson. If I'm Zac Brooks, I am licking my chops at this situation. I hope he is pushed by Morris and the conditioning program to make some major strides this summer. Because of his early enrollment, I feel like this summer gives him the opportunity to train hard and learn the offense. I hope Chad is saying 'Hey, work hard and prove to me that you can be that number two back come fall practice.' Especially considering he may have the best hands at of the backfield.
