Before we start hanging BV in effigy, I would like to say

one thing. EJ Manuel showed me something Saturday night I didn't think he had. His throws, for the most part, were right on the money. Yes, they had receivers wide freaking open most of the night and, yes, EJ had enough time to send out for pizza on practically every pass play, but he showed accuracy I didn't think he had. Not only that, but he ran extremely effectively.
FSU showed me they are a legitimate #4. I could see them making it to the BCSCG vs. 'Bama or, possibly, Oregon. Unless they pull an FSU, they should be 13-0 in December.
One thing that makes me hopeful about our prospects this season: we took the fight to them in their house. They exposed our defense to a degree I didn't think would happen. It did. We need to deal with it. That said, I don't think we'll see an offense with that kind of ability the rest of the way.
After learning about Jimbo's personal/family issues, I have to say I have a lot of empathy. My son has CP. I know something of what he feels and he's clearly a class individual. All-in-all, FSU played a clean game, earned the win and demonstrated they were the better team. They're definitely the best team we'll see all season, including whatever bowl we go to. SCar is probably the second best. I sure hope we've got some semblence of a defense by November 24.

The only evaluation of coach Venables that can be made thus far is that the players are not operating his scheme effectively .. that goes more to the kids than the coaches. I enjoy his up front style in assuming the blame ... but until the season is over , lets reserve judgment on our defense and defensive coaches. GO TIGERS

those WRs didn't get wide open b/c our lack of defense and EJ had all day in the pocket but nots b/c of our lack of defense. It must've been divine intervention. EJ could've impregnated a virgin last night w/o leaving the pocket

Yeah......not so much. My point is they outmanned us. BV can't do a whole lot about that. Be a smartazz if you want, but FSU was better, plain and simple. We're going to have to continue recruiting at a high level to close the talent gap before we're going to go into Tally and win that game. All-in-all, I think our boys showed a lot of heart and fight. They were simply outmanned.

Like I said, be a smartazz if you want. Our D had trouble stopping them all game. In the second half, they were spent. Game over. If you need for it to be anyone's "fault," how about faulting our front seven for not being more talented. That would make you nothing but a prick. They played their hearts out and FSU was better. I'm proud of the effort and I'm proud of them for taking to fight to the 'noles in the first half.

If you are going to play a soft zone defense....

it is critically important that your DL or LB's get pressure on the QB.

Absolutely. Our lack of pressure was key to EJ's

success. I still would have expected him to be less accurate than he was. Off the top of my head, I can remember only one pass to an open receiver that was way overthrown. Most of the time, he was deadly. I was surprised.
