The universal "hatred" for Clemson Football started when Dabo Swinney took Nick Saban's and Alabama's thunder with their 1st Natty won in 2017. The second Natty won in 2019 further fueled that hatred with
a shocking 44-16 victory. The sports media in general doesn't like Clemson football, let alone Coach Swinney. From Joel Klatt(CBS Sports) to Paul Finebaum(SEC cultist), the haters are out there. if Dabo is smart, he'll stay at Clemson for the rest of his career. He's young enough to win at least 2 more Natties. The next HC at Alabama has so much pressure to win after following the footsteps of Saban,
and probably won't succeed, as most coaches that inherited a program that had a dynasty. History supports that. If one named all of the sports pundits who don't like the Tiger program, the list would be astounding, even the pollsters who rate them lower in the rankings because of the disdain they have for them. So, it is NO mystery that Alabama, including Paul Finebaum, doesn't want Dabo Swinney to coach there. It is no surprise. Hatred is a powerful force in this world. It causes destruction, rage and separation. At any rate, The Clemson faithful and Coach Swinney should take a deep breath, relax and
continue to allow their program to flourish in College Football, for it will in the future.

It absolutely does bc people don’t like his folksy nature or consider him a phony, and is compounded by the fact he’s a vocal Christian. People can dislike him for those reasons. It’s their right, but to act as if the hatred doesn’t exist from a large swath is highly inaccurate.

a lady 'Bama fan and they asked her about that.
Apparently there's an idea that he was 'slimy' in some of his comments towards Saban/Alabama when we won in '18 but she didn't get specific.
Who knows... but it's the people with the money that matter... but I can't imagine being the second most successful coach in the past decade and hearing fans at your alma mater chanting they don't want you would sit will with someone as competitive as Dabo.

I have several friends who are Bama guys/supporters. Please don't shoot me but this is their words, not mine.
Basically, they think Dabo is a salesman and not as great of a coach as everyone thinks. They also think the SEC schedule is way more difficult than the ACC and Dabo wouldn't be able to handle the pressure week in and week out. I hear that all the time and it does get old. Lastly, they don't buy into his self-promotion, stating that Saban was all about the team and didn't need to promote himself, The University, or the Conference like Dabo.
I argue that we seem to beat every SEC we play so that isn't valid in my book. I also tell them it's not self-promotion if he is promoting the University and Conference. That usually gets the air spinning in their head which results in a lot of stuttering.

The perception of Dabo, especially among the $EC cult, is that he is adamantly against the portal, too much of a “gosh darn it cheerleader”, and not willing to win at all costs.

I'm sure there are plenty who would love to have him as their coach. There are also many who don't care.
But I'd say that it's pretty revealing that some Alabama fans don't want him, despite him being a former player there who has won two national championships as a head coach.
If I had to guess, it's because Dabo can rub some people the wrong way. He can be very outspoken, and if you disagree with him on the position he's lecturing us on, it can be pretty off-putting. Plus, he can be goofy sometimes, and some people might not like his personality.
For those who are hardcore football fans, they probably notice that our program hasn't been in the playoffs in several years. They have also probably heard Dabo's comments on the transfer portal and NIL, and are concerned that it could hurt recruiting if he were at Alabama.
As I've said, it's stupid that any Alabama fan wouldn't at least want to consider Dabo. There aren't many candidates who have his level of success. They could do a lot worse than Dabo.

I think for some Bama fans it is because Dabo feels there are more important things in life than winning a NC. Yes, he wants to win, but his relationship with God and family are more important. For many Bama fans the most important thing in life is beating Auburn and winning national championships, so they may see Dabo as weak. Which is fine with me, because I love what Dabo has done here and hope he stays a long time.

Dabo isn't a particularly vindictive man by all accounts, but I imagine he would enjoy beating a fan base that chanted "anyone but Dabo" since he's never had a negative thing to say about Bama and played for them, coached them and graduated from there.

It's hard to imagine that anyone wouldn't want a man with Christlike integrity. I'm not saying 'Dabo worship,' I'm just saying he conducts himself and his program according to what he believes pleases God.
