Not near as big as the football version, but still exciting and prominant to indicate having a relevant program. Been a long time since Clemson hosted it in basketball which was 2010. Been so long ago that Hubert Davis now HC at UNC was one of the co-host.

Do you think Clemson will ever host it in basketball under Coach Brownell?

The requirements are probably going to be a top 25 program for at least a few years meaning going to consecutive NCAATs in a row and being a preseason top 15 team on the season they select the sites.

I believe they make their site selections approximately 2-3 weeks ahead of the games actually being played. Thus, the requirements are only that you have a compelling game relative to the rest of the games on that Saturday between mid-January and April. I would imagine Clemson would have had a great shot to host for their game against UNC on January 6th, but Gameday did not tip off until the following week this year.

Actually its different than the football version in that sites are picked before the season. The show in the morning coinsides with the 6pm game on ESPN which the TV games by espn are determined in the fall right before the season.

My belief is that they may have a pre-determined idea of where they will go for any given week based on historical context of the rivalry and where they anticipate certain teams being ranked. However, they still only announce the next week's location during the given week's show. For instance, they only just announced that next week's location is at UConn. They have not yet announced where they are going for the rest of the season.

Auburn's students were really into it. Gotta give them credit. Dude with the coconut bikini top earlier was funny. If you have ever seen their antics mocking their opponents during gymnastics floor routines - it's hilarious too.

Then how come we made in 2010?

Clemson was gong to the season after two straight NCAATs and top 25 ranked in the polls, and was preseason top 25 that season.

So you are wrong...

You said a few years which is not two. Ever moving goal post. We were top 25 but could not win a game in the dance which according to some is all that matters

If you go three straight seaons of being in the NCAAT and can get ranked high in the polls of two of those three you have a relevant program which Clemson did then, regardless if you win a NCAAT game or not.

Coach Brownell's next goal after he probably makes the NCAAT this season is to do this.
