B1G or SEC? I still say B1G…here’s why..

If College Football is going to be divided up into two separate “Super Leagues”, geography won’t matter anymore…
This is already playing out with the Rutgers/Maryland add back in 2013 and now the USC/UCLA snag that just happened.
The B1Gs next move will be South in order to expand the TV market to a truly National footprint. If Clemson looks in the rear view mirror and t values “traditional rivalries”, we will just end up being another big Southern program fighting for air.
Going to the B1G would be huge news with continued national exposure as Clemson matures into a truly National brand. We would own the recruiting in the Southeast while also plucking the best athletes out of the traditional Northern Midwest.
Anyway, if I was running the show, I’d be on the phone with the B1G YEATERDAY, figuring out how to leave the ACC…
Too bad this won’t be the scenario that plays out

Train has left the station though. The nostalgic days of regional affiliations are over…the game day experience we have all cherished over the years has now taken a back seat to TV revenue (75% of Revenue) NOT Butts in seats…which is really surprising.
I’m not saying I like the direction anymore than you do. I’m saying that if we intend to play in this new arena, the B1G would be the better move vs going with the SEC…just my opinion

Those trips to Boston, ND, Syracuse, Miami, and Pitt are doosies. Cant do those 5 times a year.

I think Clemson would be in a stronger position if there are a group of Southern schools that join the B1G. Having FSU, Miami, VT and others would make it easier to recruit against SEC schools that might tell recruits all of Clemson's games would be in places like Minnesota and Iowa in the cold months.

I will believe it when I see it. The SEC isn’t expanding right now. And we won’t go to the B1G.

My sentiments exactly! And, you know they would always make sure Clemson was scheduled for mid-November night games! LOL!
But, aye yi yi.

I like our chances in the SEC. I’ll take those game day environments and road trips over anything the B1G offers.

the SEC because of geography but we must follow the money. I go to one away game a year and cold weather doesn’t bother me. I prefer it to having a heatstroke at games down here in September and even into October. The latest we would be up there for a game is probably November. That’s far better than being up there playing December-March when it’s the winter season. These are just natural rivalries in the SEC so I get wanting to be there and I agree we should go as a group with several other ACC teams.

The Big Ten is second rate to the SEC in all areas except

revenue.
The only way the Big Ten will change that is to add at least 5 top notch schools from the south and 5 from the west.
If you add 5 top notch schools from the south...then I would prefer the B1G over the SEC.
Something like:
Clemson FSU Miami Georgia Tech UNC Duke UVA VT

I use to play the Parley cards on the NFL.
I'd never take a southern team if travelling to a northern team in Nov, Dec or Jan (unless the points were more than 10).
The guys hated playing up there and were vocal about it too.
Also, the NFL has said to the northern teams that they can't hold a Super Bowl unless they have a domed stadium.
Not sure why Clemson would join B1G, but that's an echelon above Smitty to make that call.
As always, Go Tigers!
