2.6 years. That's a little north of 2.2 million. That won't get you through life, especially if you spend like many of them do. The value a college education has added to thousands of young men's lives through the years who played college ball on scholarship and never played in the NFL is immense. It would be a shame to see that go away.

I was just thinking earlier today how short rb careers are these days. Tough position to play physically

I think all college really does is show to employers that you can stick to something semi-difficult and see it through for 4-5 years. I have a Business Marketing and Management degree, and I can’t think of anything I learned in college that helped me in my career. Every job I’ve ever had was either sink or swim; or Training from upper management.

I’m glad I got the college experience and enjoyed it a great deal (maybe even a little too much…) but my career is built on something that required me to pass licensing exams, and there are quite a few guys in this profession that make a ton of money that never went to college.

... something similar.

Now, if you major in a specific program - engineering, accounting, law (not pre-law but an actual post graduate degree) some field of science (math, physics, etc) your degree will assist you in getting a specific job.

But, if you major in history or sociology or marketing and get a degree that still opens doors for you. It tells your potential employer two things about you:
1. You are reasonably intelligent (so they can teach you how to do the job they need you to do).
2. You are not a quitter. (You won't walk away when faced with the first adversity.)

My college roommate got a degree in history. He had no idea what he wanted to do after college. He went on job interviews where the educational requirement was "bachelor's degree or higher." Was offered several jobs. Accepted a job with the phone company (I don't remember what it was called at the time, Southern Bell or ATT or whatever). Had a wonderful career with them.

If I were in charge of an NIL - this is where I would try and make an impact

A great college running back is worth more to a college team, than a great runningback is to an NFL team.

I'm not surprised by the longevity you stated, 2.6 years, because I had always heard it was about 3 three years. I am surprised by the average contact.
