… were in the “Study Hall” every afternoon, before heading to “The Bookstore” for and hour or two, then spending the rest of the evening at “The Library” ?
And it was absolutely the truth … but for some reason your grades were terrible.

You could actually do that in the 1980’s…that is, until my Dad showed up unexpectedly at my dorm room door (more than once)

Exactly, no need for me to sing that song. My parents could tell by my grades that I seldom visited those sites.

BSME 93’…I spent some time downtown for sure…but sadly very little compared to my time in the actual library or in an empty classroom in Lowry hall…especially Sundays. Was the first in my family to attend college and paid for it myself.
I doubt my parents ever saw a report card all through high school or college…I guess they assumed I was doing ok…or that I would just go to work when I got out of high school. I know they were/are proud of me…but never a question regarding my plans or whereabouts once I turned 18.

They tell me those places are pretty okay!
Were they?
LOL! DueWest - they never wondered where I was; but did have a habit of popping up on me.

The only time I spend in the Library was study hall. The only time I stayed at school after the bell rang was detention. In fact, my shirttail didn't touch my back when that bell rang.

Visited the Study Hall many times. In the 60's interim and final grades were mailed to parents at your home of record. You were a legal adult at 18, could drink beer/wine but not liquor and could be drafted and be in the line of fire but could not vote until 21. But parents still received your grades

Spent plenty of time at all 3, plus some others. I worked my tail off during the week so I could enjoy Friday after classes thru Sunday afternoon. If I didn't keep at least a 3.0, I would have been recalled to back home.

Army ROTC Scholarship due to my own efforts, plus had additional income from various sources that relieved them from financial concerns.
Since they never asked, I never volunteered info, and not once ever took dirty laundry home on rare visits...a direct "order" from my Mother! lol
When I changed my major after my first semester, they did casually ask why, but accepted my reasoning without further comment. So, largely, I've been left to my own devices since age 18, good or bad. Frankly, both parents were succinct: they believed an 18-year-old man should be capable of supporting himself...something my Dad had done, as did all of my Mother's brothers. Hence, none of us four ever went to them about car or rent payments or whatever, because we knew what their answer would be.
How times have changed..........
