Are you "color brave"?

May 30, 2018, 3:52 PM

http://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/2018/05/30/new-starbucks-training-manual-promotes-becoming-color-brave-speaking-to-customers-one-human-to-one-human.html

"At the start of the session, Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson introduced (via video) the topics for the day’s lesson, including a history of discrimination in public spaces as well as a lesson in being “color brave,” the latter of which is explained as a an alternative to being color-blind, wherein a person’s racial identity is not ignored, but rather seen and respected for what it is.

Here’s my belief: Growing up, there was a term called ‘color blind,’ which described a learning behavior of pretending not to notice race — that doesn’t even make sense,” said Johnson. “So today we are starting a new journey, talking about race directly — what my friend and Starbucks board member Mellody Hobson calls being ‘color brave.’”

how about just judge people by their character and call it a day. Or is that now racist?

I've boycotted Starbucks

May 30, 2018, 4:00 PM

Ever since they opened. I've never been in one in my life.
If you don't drink coffee, they are pretty useless establishments.

Until now.

Reckon I can go take a whizz in one now if I want to, so at least I have that going for me in the future. I'd hate to work at the Starbucks on Bourbon Street, or River Street in Savannah on St Patricks Day.

isn't any establishment essentially useless to someone who

doesn't partake in their wares?

Not necessarily...

Newspring makes sure my wife and I can get a jump on the lunch crowd and beat them to the restaurants.

Color Brave? Bro I'm Color Heroic

May 30, 2018, 4:02 PM

You don't spend a decade buying mid grade weed without some Color Hero blood running through your veins.

That said, do people really think this is some sort of national problem? I look around every day and see people just generally getting along. Now I know the Bojangles workers hate me because I'm white, but as long as they get my order right they can go fugg themselves.

You clearly don't understand the history of discrimination..

May 30, 2018, 5:11 PM

in public places. You're a color coward, my friend.

Starbucks

May 31, 2018, 1:45 AM

I have no use for Starbucks. I don't support their values as a company, and besides I make better coffee in my kitchen.

Being "Color Brave" just sounds like being a Race Realist, but for white liberals who hate themselves for being white.

Identity matters, but it is not everything and furthermore the identity that matters most to you should be your own.
