Anyone familiar with the Clemson soccer team in the mid 70's

I am wondering if anyone could help me with information about a former Clemson soccer player whose first name was Eric. He and I shared some classes around 1975 or '76 and became friends. Eric impressed me with his desire to get an education and return home to help his country. I believe he was majoring in agriculture.

He pronounced his country's name as "Ganna" with a short middle "a" sound. I don't know if that is how Ghana is pronounced by its inhabitants or if it is the country Guyana. He crosses my mind a lot as I always hoped he could accomplish his goal of giving something meaningful back to his country.

I have tried Googling rosters from that era to get a last name, but my Googling skills apparently aren't very good. This is just a question that has been on my mind for many years. His pride in and love for his country made a considerable impression on me back then and I hope he was able to follow through on his college goals.

I am not trying to contact him, so not looking for any personal contact information. Just want to know if he was successful going back to help his country in some way. There aren't many gifted young athletes today with that kind of mindset. Please excuse this for being posted on the football board but I am trying to get as many eyes on my question as possible. Thank you for any info.

Thanks! Must have been Eric Smith as that is the only Eric I see listed from that era. Now if anyone knows if he was able to help his country in any way, I will be most appreciative.

I vaguely remember him from attending Clemson soccer camps as a kid. He was one of my position coaches.
