Any thoughts on the new ACC scheduling format?

Oct 31, 2023, 8:48 AM

Evidently some schools have up to four protected rivalries with other ACC teams. Clemson has only one; Clemson vs Florida State. No more annual games with GT or NC State. Those will be scheduled three or four times over the next seven years. UNC has four protected rivalries with the other three NC schools.

Feels like we got screwed in this deal but maybe this is what the Clemson Admin wanted so we could play other teams. Either way, we are where we are now.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?

I'm not really interested in anything that doesn't have to do with Tyler. Thanks though.

But in all seriousness, it is sad to see the GT and NCSU rivalries just fade into oblivion. Also, seeing Stanford and Cal on our future schedules does not get me fired up in the slightest. All this change happening is kind of sad. Gone are the glory days of college football.

I like that we play F St every year.

I wish we had been able to keep either Gtech or NC St also.

Looking at next year’s schedule I’m going to try my hardest to be at the VTech road game.

I have a few.

1. FSU and Clemson will be leaving soon, so I really don't care about their schedules.

2. I noticed that Duke, UNC and NCSU are the only 3 teams with 3 "annual matchups" preserved. All three play each other every year. Duke also plays UVA and the other two play Wake. ACC definitely taking care of Tobacco Road.

3. I looked at the 2024 and 2025 schedules for FSU and Clemson. Was curious to see when we were going to CA and who we were gonna play. Didn't really look beyond 2025 because I figure the odds are way less than 50/50 we will still be in the ACC.

I will plan a trip to Dallas if Clemson at SMU happens ...***

Shocked the Tigers weren't scheduled for two road trips to Cally next season. ACC staff dropped the ball.
