more games this season. Since the season is almost over, seems like he'd want to do it now as soon as possible but idk.

I'm not sure what type of surgery it would be, but it may be one that doesn't involve a very long recovery time. Let's say he plays this weekend and in the bowl game, and the recovery time is somewhere around 8 weeks. He'd still be back in time for the Spring. He likely wants to help the team win the rivalry game and bowl game if he's able to do so. I'm sure he's been wanting to make up for the punt return fumble near the end of the game last year.
