An honest question hoping for honest answers.

OK...question....you have both of these individuals on staff and you have to assign one of them to work with your pitching staff and call pitches....who is the choice?
Candidate
After pitching limited innings as a freshman in 2004, COACH emerged as a versatile pitcher in 2005 with a 6-4 record, a team-best 2.60 ERA and one save while allowing just one home run in 20 appearances (10 starts) to earn Second-Team All-ACC honors. The highlight of his 2005 season came against No. 4 South Carolina when he pitched a complete game five-hitter to earn the win. He received ACC Pitcher-of-the-Week honors.
As a junior in 2006, COACH had a 9-3 record and a team-best 2.36 ERA in a team-high 103.0 innings pitched over 18 starts on Clemson’s College World Series team that finished the season ranked No. 5 in the nation. He added 86 strikeouts against only 20 walks, good for a 4.30 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
In four seasons in the minor leagues, COACH had a 23-24 record and a 4.24 ERA in 411.2 innings pitched over 99 appearances (69 starts). He reached as high as AAA in 2007 with the Portland (Ore.) Beavers of the Padres organization.
Candidate
The 1990 graduate of SUNY Cortland, who earned a degree in economics/management science, was an all-region and all-conference outfield selection during his playing days. In 1986 and 1987, he played at Mohawk Valley (N.Y.) Community College, where he was an all-region selection.
COACH transferred to SUNY Cortland, where he played in 1989. COACH then played at SUNY College at Oneonta in 1990, where he was an all-conference pick.
COACH is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and is a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association.

Does the first COACH have coaching experience?
There are lots of other questions to ask too.
Many great players make poor coaches, and many average players make great coaches.
Vince Lombardi played at Fordham.
Arguably Clemson's best basketball coach, whose taken four different schools to the NCAA Basketball Tournament never played college basketball.

I do agree with that 100%. However, pitching has been a huge question mark for two seasons. If our pitching was dominating, then either one could make a case for himself.

how will that former player coaches. Therefore I cannot give you an answer because you have not given me the proper information with which to make a decision.

Impossible to answer based on those bios

need to see what they have done as coaches. Just being able to do something doesn't mean you can coach it. Often the best coaches are the former players who were on the bench more than the field because they were the ones who got to see how the sausage was being made.

to a volunteer assistant with a grand total of a season and a half experience? What exactly has he done in that year and a half that says he is a better choice than the current coach who has twenty years of full time coaching experience?

of playing the contrarian.
I would without a doubt get the first candidate to call pitches at least.
Maybe they could even take a page out of the Swinney playbook and name Co-pitching coordinators.

Does the first coach have remaining eligibility?

I'd like him in the rotation now!
As a coach? Um, not so much. Doesn't sound like he's coached a whole heck of a lot.

If someone made balloon characters for 10 years, I would like to think he could show me how to make one pretty quickly.

Bonds could certainly "hit" himself up with Human Growth Hormone....and probably a masking agent

Agreed...if pitching has not been an issue then everything should just as it is.
