From a athletic department source:
-Bakich flew up to Cape Cod league to try and talk him out of it
-not really sure how much money had to do with it but if was issue could have been addressed
-was some lingering resentment about being taken out of Tennessee game
-will be SEC school, Florida looking most likely
-his girlfriend still at Clemson
-As of now appears Cam not going anywhere
Take it for what its worth.

I seriously doubt that money had anything to do with it. According to an article on his father, Lyndon, his father has a net worth of 5 million dollars as of June 2023. I would have thought it would have been more.

is still living I believe. Also, no telling how much he gave away to Clemson, Church or other charities. No way of really knowing but suffice to say I doubt need of $ was an issue. If he isn't getting $ directly yet and wanted some of his own, I'm sure NIL would have been arranged.

I don't think the whole team was happy about that game. I thought Backich made poor decisions and then weakly supported Camarella. Backich should have raised hail at that call and ejection and gotten himself thrown out of the game or at least had jack to do it.

I agree, Backich made some bad decisions in that game, but to quit on you team and your school that has so much history with your family??

Yep. I thought the UT game decision was one of the most head scratching baseball decisions I’ve seen. Don’t blame him for being mad or feeling “dissed” about it but don’t take your ball and go home. Here’s a conspiracy theory
That decision to take him out in order to bunt wreaks of Jacks small ball philosophy. Just sayin

best defensive 1st baseman at first with a 2 run lead and only needing 1 out to end the game.
The first time Amick would have batted was the 10th and Starbuck actually walked so you're talking about the 12th and 14th at bats where we could have really used him. But remember, I think it was the 11th that UT would have won had Grice not been in defensively as he dove for the bag with his glove for the 3rd out. Amick simply could not have made that play.
Bakich made the move to end the game in the 9th. It didn't happen and then we tied it instead of losing or winning in the bottom of the 9th. Odds were he wasn't going to need Amick to bat again at all.

Goes to show we only know the player on the field but if this is true there are some character and maturity issues. He needs to understand that coach made the best decision he could and probably recognizes he made a mistake. But to up and quit because of that one game is just sorry. Hopefully there’s more to it than this.
