3 things

May 23, 2012, 9:45 AM

1. ACC schools seem to be jumping fast... making contact with Big 12 "contacts" frequently. Seems they've realized it's a bigger deal than they initially thought.

2. UL rumors from yesterday are b/c they are the only ones agreeing to pay now and wait until ND joins.

3. Rumblings inside Clemson... may or may not be true. I'm not in Clemson. Hopefully, it's nothing major.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

what do you mean, rumblings?***

Swaim is reporting it is GT, not UL, that has and is willing to pay now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yea.... new developments...

May 23, 2012, 9:57 AM

the "willingness" to pay and wait is a big selling point now.

I still think that would be at 13 and 14 though

Ahhh, but a GT willingness to pay for the 12 spot....

May 23, 2012, 9:59 AM

...now THAT is something to worry about.

I'm not completely sold on this yet....

May 23, 2012, 10:01 AM

neither is my contact. GT ruffled feathers by being "cool" to inital talks. They are "feverishly" trying to get back in the picture, while also talking to the Big 10.

True, but Swaim is correct in theory...

May 23, 2012, 10:04 AM

...having GTech scratching at the door makes things less certain.

OTOH, if there was reluctance withing the Clemson family, having a rival suitor for that No. 12 spot might help unify folks.

your second statement is more accurate than you will ever

So there is "reluctance withing the Clemson family"? If so and they screw this up there will be a lynch mob on campus before summers end!

It's probably the faculty, and that's to be expected. The FSU President mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the FSU faculty was not in favor of leaving the ACC. Fortunately, the faculty will not be making the decision.

Aside from the typo, I figured as much...

May 23, 2012, 10:14 AM [ in reply to your second statement is more accurate than you will ever ]

...I've witnessed a few power struggles at the school. One like this, which would shake the conference identity to the core, will stun some folks.

And, of course, we've got some in power who would welcome a chance to decrease football's influence at the school ... as has been proven in the past.

Amazing! Could be 1990 all over again if we screw this up!***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not worried about that. We have a BOT chair now who

May 23, 2012, 10:20 AM

appreciates the importance of football, in particular, and strong athletics in general. He'll deliver the goods as long as the result of all the research/negotiations indicates it's best for Clemson.

what are you hearing the rumblings are? Are we still in the 11 and 12 spot? I swear if we screw this up and stay in the ACC im going to be extremely pissed
