Had he played at Miami or FSU, he would have been a candidate for every award. One of the top 5 college linebackers of my lifetime.

Sorry to disagree, but I would not rank him ahead of Davis or Kirkland after watching all three play. In fact I might put Adams and Anthony ahead of him. He was a great talent, but he DEFINITELY took plays off and didn't give his all on every play.

He should be listed as the other safety to Brian Dawkins. Deandre McDaniel should not be there. Donnell Woolford or Dexter Davis should be the other corner.

Actually I love Terry Kinard, he was great SAFETY. He was an incredible tackler, had excellent ball hawking instincts, and was a superb leader. Alas he was just average at pass coverage which what corners must do. Justin Miller on the same team was a better cover man. I agree about Woolford or Davis.

Thar list is so twisted up its not even funny. 1st off- way too many recent players on there. No need to discredit older gens. 2nd of all, the only national player of the year we have ever had isn't on that list. Major red flag. And as much as Stephon anthony has do e recently, he's not beating out anthony Simmons, much less the lb on that list. How quickly we forget how great these older guys were. And no, I don't think Beasley takes a DE spot as a pass rush specialist. Give me Gaines or bowers and especially Michael dean any day. Nothing against vic, just those guys were incredibly special.

And Terry Allen is the best rb we have ever had. It's really not close. If you call on CJ as APB, then so be it. But it's listed as a rb so I take Allen all day, any day.

He would be a good change of pace back playing behind Terry Allen. 3rd down guy. But as a rb, he couldn't hold Terry's jock.
TA was a man among boys AND could outrun entire defenses.

I Bennie Cunningham was really good...but so was John McMakin.....I know spiller was really good, but Terry Allen was better....I did not see David Treadwell on here either. did not see Joe Bostic Either....did not see Jim Riggs either...I am not slighting any of our stars, we had a lot of them, but we had a good brand of football in the late 70s and 80s.....oh yeah, what about Big Chester McGlockton and Brenston Buckner?

I would have liked to seen Chester McGlockton on here but maybe I am biased since I remember sitting next to him in the Student Union one day and thinking his calves were bigger than my neck.
Speaking of good returners, they mentioned Justin Miller and Jacoby Ford, what has happened to our return game? Sammy had some flashes but I was always afraid he was going to get hurt. I never seemed to be worried about Justin Miller getting hurt. Are defensive back just a little tougher in the return game maybe?

DT Chester McGlockton DT William Perry DE Gaines Adams DE Vic Beasley LB Anthony Simmons LB Jeff Davis LB Levon Kirkland CB Donnell Woolford CB Antuan Edwards SS Brian Dawkins FS Terry Kinard
safety and DT were very hard, the other positions not so much. It was real hard to leave Robert Carswell off as safety, great player.

I always find it hard to put guys like Banks McFadden in this lists. I've never seen him play nor did many of the Tiger faithful I've ever known.
I know this from 2012 but Here is mine QB T. Boyd easy one here RB Raymond Priester/James Davis I can't decide so both along with CJ WRs Sammy Watkins, Deandre Hopkins, Perry Tuttle TE Duane Allen
DT Grady Jarrett (flame away) both Perry boys DE Vic Beasley, Daquan Bowers LB Anthony Simmons, Keith Adams, Wayne Simmons S Brian Dawkins Deandre McDaniel CB I'm at a loss here.
P Gardoki Pk Cat Man K & P return. CJ Spiller how could they not put this one on the list? IMO this is the biggest no-brainer on the list.

I never saw Heisman play. Nor has most of the other audience on here.
McFadden played in the 30's.
I think most of the Tigernet audience is not a hundred.

As far as I'm concerned, it looks like this.
LINEBACKERS: Anthony Simmons, Levon Kirkland & Keith Adams
DEF ENDS: Michael Dean Perry and Gaines Adams
DEF TACKLES: Williams Perry and Chester McGlocton
Corners: Donnell Wolford and Dexter Davis
Safeties: Brian Dawkins and Robert Oneal

Pretty good but you lost me at safety. O'Neal wasn't best safety on that team. Leomont Evans was better and played for skins for a while. But again, Kinard has to be in that slot.

I thought he was a good linebacker but honestly I would never put him ahead of Jeff Davis, Levon Kirkland, Keith Adams, or Wayne Simmons, probably not ahead of Anthony. Sorry but to me the guy took plays off and didn't get it on every play. In the losses against UNC and Missouri in 1996 he looked flat out terrible, and that may color my opinion, but I sure wouldn't take him over Jeff Davis who I saw grunt out every down against Virginia Tech with a sprained knee.

I have seen with a Paw on his helmet in 40 yrs. as a Tiger fan....period. However, Simmons has to be on this list. Hell, Ed McDaniel should be here too and it boggles my mind how overlooked Jeff Bryant always is.....guy was an absolute beast at Clemson and a 12 yr. Seahawk starter.

as our best LB ever. From day one in 1995 as a true freshman, he was the best player on our team. He was first team All ACC three straight years and was a consensus first team All American in 1997. He was the national defensive freshman of the year in 1995.
He was a tacking machine. If you want proof, watch the coot game in 1995 (the game where Emory Smith drug th coot down the field). He dominated in that game.

I think its hard to just go 1 deep. a 2 deep would be much easier to do, and as far as I'm concerned the d- line is a 4 deep position chart. Running Backs, same thing maybe even deeper. But corner back is a tough one, It's not like corners in the leather helmet days are what corners are today and even from the 80s I wouldn't say the corners are equal as far as what they are asked to do, everyone back then just ran an option attack.
But great feedback guys. I love these kinds of conversations!

You have to have Terry Allen on here....as a pure RB, best I have seen at Clemson. Donnell Woolford, Jeff Bryant, Leomont Evans, Ed McDaniel need to be here too, without question. You cannot do this without going at least two deep across the board. The Bostic boys on OL definitely with Steve Kinney and Marvin Sims at FB are no brainers in my mind along with Delton Hall at CB too. Chester at DT is another one. Johnny Rembert is another forgotten beast at LB along with Jeff Bryant. Bryant had a 12 year pro career as a starter with Seattle.

Delton Hall. Played for steelers for a long time. Would take him over those you mentioned. But I think when it's all said all and done, Breeland and Mack Deuce will have a chance to crack that list.

Guys we are forgetting Willie Underwood. The destruction that he reaped on George Roger's 1980 South Carolina team in Death Valley is at least deserves a mention. That one game was the best I have ever seen ANY defensive back play at Clemson. Unfortunately it was his last.
