All the glory to god...

After the Super Bowl, Patty Mahomes said this in his interview. I snickered a little, coz IF there is a god, does he really care if the KC wins or Patty throws/runs for how many yards? Doubtful
Is he really helping players catch or causing them to get tackled? I must say that punt that hit a play then Ray Ray mishandled causing a turnover and score looked suspicious...hand of god? IDK

The SF players should've prayed harder

Yea Ive never understood that either.

Like Dabo pointing to the sky when he comes to the top of the hill. What’s the point in that?

Did god really have a hand in you becoming a 10 million dollar coach while the poor single mother struggles to keep the lights on?

Just seems very cliche and naive to me.

Thou shalt not take the name of the lord Thy God in vain.

I have always understood this to mean using the Lord's name to serve your our purposes. Praying for touchdowns, wins, or millions of dollars would be just that. God does magical things, but God is not magic. Nor is God a slot machine. I cannot pray to win the lottery and when I don't win, cite that as proof that there is no God.

Maybe, just maybe, Mahomes, Dabo, et al are thanking God for the talent and opportunities.

As for the single mother trying to keep the lights on....I have no answer. Nor can I explain how tens of thousands of people are paying an average ticket price of $10 grand to see a sporting event while there is so much want in the world. There were far more people in the stands that aren't celebrities, people you don't know or have ever heard of that coughed up that kind of money. We like to point to those we have heard of, those who's salary is public knowledge and ask them why.

Dabo should be proud of where he is. The point is not to point the finger at him for how much money he makes but rather the logic in him thanking a god for it.

Exactly! Mahomes and all the others work very hard at their craft. Spending countless hours watching film and doing drills, playing catch with WRs and TEs. These guys no doubt put their work in. BUT so do many many others. I don’t think if there is a god, it says here you can scramble better or here you can catch better

And so no glory to god for the losers

No, not exactly. Did either of you read my post? That's not the way I believe it works. God is not a Chiefs fan. Nor did the 49'ers lose due to a lack of faith or that they didn't pray hard enough. It's really just as simple as those pointing toward heaven are thanking God for their talents and opportunities. As I'm sure the 49er players do as well, even though they lost the game.

You may find it disingenuous. And I'll give you that.

I certainly did read your post and I even agree with it to a degree.

Did you read mine? Which was more of a reply to the one above than to you. If you did, you’ll see that “I agree that some could be thankful for the opportunity ” however it’s nothing Devine about that opportunity. As I said, pro football players WORK HARD, and sacrifice a lot to be good at what they do. So why than god for what they created and worked hard for? It’s like thanking god for the opportunity to drive a nice car and live in a nice house, even though I’ve worked myself to the bone to have it
