All the Dabo hate and criticism is just crazy talk

Nov 27, 2022, 2:56 PM

The guy is a great coach, he resurrected this program from the ashes, and he’s won 2 freaking national championships.

I have faith that he’s going to get things corrected. We are in much better shape compared to the first time he had to correct course. It may not be in the time frame we all want in the age of instant results.

Last year was a bust. DJ stunk and our backup QB was so bad he couldn’t crack the 3 deep at GaTech.

I’ll be the first to admit that things have been off the last 2 years and trending in the wrong direction. I do think he has more than earned the right to take a few risks and make a few mistakes.

I believe Cade has the capability to be another generational talent and I believe that Dabo is going to pick up a couple of quality WR’s the portal and he is going to find a way to get some competent leadership on the offensive side of the ball. (aka Streeter is going to get reassigned or marginalized)

Just isn’t going to happen mid-season like we might want it too. He’s going to do it smartly, methodically and compassionately. As it should be…

Many of what you mention MUST be done......

Nov 27, 2022, 3:07 PM

along with some other things, BUT........what makes you think Dabo will do that?? What's he done to show he's willing to do that when his job's not "on the line"??

mainly portal and fire/"reassign" one of his own??

False ...

So, the hate is one thing (although there's a lot less of that than people assume), but "all the criticism" is crazy talk, too? So we're down to the level of not tolerating criticism without it being maligned as crazy talk? **All** of it? Horse crap. If It was crazy talk, then someone would refute it. But they can't.

I’m not saying he is exempt from criticism, but I do think people saying that “it’s time for Dabo to move on” are crazy.

I also laugh at the folks that say “Dabo talks on his headset all game so he must be calling all the offensive plays”.

If he weren’t on the headsets the the same people would be screaming at how he’s disengaged and clueless.

I think criticizing him for sticking with DJ, and hiring 2 unproven coordinators at the same time are completely fair criticisms.

Should he be fired or Graham Neff take away his headset? Absolutely not!!! Just pure nuts

Dabo spoke about yesterday's game as if he played a team that had recruited closely to him. What happened is that he got beat at home by a team that hasn't sniffed his level of recruiting yet. So either our talent evaluation is a bust or we coach them down and either way we have people doing a poor job.

I'd like to hear him say 'DJ is our best quarterback.'

Nov 27, 2022, 3:17 PM

If I heard that rather than 'The job is DJ's.' I'd be less upset knowing that DJ is better than Cade. Until then, I refuse to believe it.

Good assessment.

Dabo has earned the right to continue to lean on his program's core principles of fewer recruitment offers, not taking kids from the portal, hiring from within the program when feasible, playing upperclassmen over freshmen WHEN they deserve it (how they practice, how their mental fortitude is, how they perform on the field on game day), and all while running a squeaky clean program that graduates its players with degrees from a great school and, by all accounts, is indeed molding young kids into young men that want to serve others, with and without their football platform, which is something to be applauded and is happening in fewer and fewer programs these days. That is always something to be proud of.

That being said, he is really at a crossroads. These next two games and offseason are crucial to the next 2-3 years of Clemson football. I take the data as it comes to me and analyze it as I see it, and by all accounts, Clemson needs a complete gutting on offense and return to the drawing board, including replacing an OC with blood from OUTSIDE the program (unless that person were Jeff Scott), switching QBs for the other 5 star player on Clemson's roster and playing him early and often, firing and replacing the WR position coach and re-implementing the technique and want-to that our WRs used to play with. He NEEDS to do that or he seriously will start to break the trust that he has built with the fan base. Dabo has made good decision after good decision regarding our program from 2008-2020, in my opinion, but now CFB is changing, and I'm not so sure his model will hold the test of time.

Of course, what do I know. I'm not at practices. But I do know that I will continue to support this program through even the rougher times.

I do see lots of legitimate Dabo criticism.

Well said sir. Dabo knows what the problems are and he will fix them. To all the haters, this program is average at best without Dabo. You will be praying to have a 10 win season and play in a ACC championship game.

Maybe but history says differently. Dabo is Clemson football. Without him Clemson is a 7 win team.

No, my friend, it is frustration that has been building for a long time. It happens when reality butts heads with desires.

He was a really great coach when best was the standard

Nov 27, 2022, 4:41 PM

He’s running it back into the ground. I guess we weren’t grateful enough and he’s gonna teach us a lesson.

The Cade thing won’t matter cause he won’t be here.

This is just how modern CFB works. The kid isn’t just gonna be a 5 star and sit behind DJ for years. No kid like that would these days. They all hit the portal and go where they can play.

No judgement on this either. Love or hate the portal idea it is what it is in modern CFB.

If you want to talk about how well we did in 2016 and 2018

I'm sure Dabo would love to sit down and have an iced tea or two with you.
