of their way to p!ss off their constituency. I am 68 years old, and just got a jury duty summons in the mail. Now, this form which I was to fill out and return, also had an option whereby you could call the Clerk of Court, and inform them you did not wish to serve, if you were over the age of 65.
So, I called the REAL Clerk of Court number I got from the County website on the interwebs, since all I got was a recording when I called the number on the form. (I DID leave a message, and will let them have an earful as well, if they do eventually call me back from that number.)
The helpful County Government person informed me that there was a box I had to check on the form stating that I was 65 or older and did not wish to serve. I pointed out that this box was DIRECTLY in front of the statement which said I could also call the Clerk of Court by phone to inform them I did not wish to serve because of this age exemption. She informed me I would still have to send in the form. I informed HER that they should take that phone call option OFF THE FLIPPING FORM, IF YOU STILL HAD TO MAIL IN THE FORM ANYWAY, EVEN AFTER MAKING THE PHONE CALL.
And people wonder why County (or other) Government is inefficient.

Got to enjoy downtown Greenville morning traffic, registration, some paperwork, a lecture on the judicial system and court procedures, people complaining about having to be there because of jobs and family, a lot of waiting, making it all the way to the final cut, and getting to go home after 3+ hours.
For all that, got a check for about $13 (barely gas money), a parking pass, and a day off work which was the best part since they paid me for that fun day off.

They pulled several juries from the pool of candidates and, of course, I got selected to serve on a criminal trial. All of the other pending cases on the docket settled except for case on which I was selected to serve. Spent the next three days listening to testimony in a case involving a sexual assault by a male cousin against his younger female cousin. This was the third time the prosecutor tried the case. The first two ended with mistrials due to deadlocked juries. The case on which I served ended the same way. All but one of the jurors felt the defendant was guilty and after hours of deliberation and multiple votes, there was no convincing him otherwise. The guy even said that he would not be responsible for sending someone that young to prison and having to spend the rest of his days as a registered sex offender.

The only time I actually got pulled for a jury was many years ago, when I just happened to have been put on a diuretic. I was literally begging the Bailiff to let me out of the jury box to go to the bathroom. Thank God the Judge to a couple minutes to give the lawyers some instructions, because I was about to pee in their jury box.
I was in a pool of 150 potential jurors, with a college education, it was a check cashing fraud case, I figured no way would I get drawn. Not only did EYE get drawn, two other coworkers from the chemical plant that were in the jury pool ALSO got drawn for that same trial.
After going through the near miss with fouling the jury box, sat through a mornings worth of testimony, and upon return from lunch, we were ushered into the jury room to wait. The woman evidently figured out she was toast, and changed her plea to guilty, and we were excused. Waste of over a half a days worth of the County Court's (and us jurors) time, she should have pled out to begin with, the proof against her was mountainous, to say the least. I guess she had to see it all spelled out in court to realize she had screwed the pooch.

They seem to go out of their way to make things easier on them rather than the taxpayer who pays their salary.

The SC department of revenue in conjunction with the county of Lexington decided to change my SC DOR number. They did it, not me. This resulted in them refunding me two years of taxes.... then they re-issued me new bills for each year that was about $50 higher, each year, than the refund. I have no recourse. It took me 6 months to get this all figured out.

The funniest thing I ever saw was when a Georgia State trooper went into DMV to get his license renewed. He was in uniform, on duty. He ended up cussing them out and telling them he now understood why everybody hated them.

Wrong County. I was selected for jury duty on March 5. I called and was excused by phone. No form required. E Z By the way, my form had my age preprinted on it but i suppose they want to give us an "opportunity" to serve.

If it wasn't sent certified, if it wasn't placed directly in my hands,,, then I didn't get it and have no idea what they're talking about.

Still trying to figure out why the SCDNR

went from 3 year to 1 year boat registrations. Price stayed the same per year so they essentially tripled their paperwork for no reason. Maybe their plan was to catch more boaters on the water with expired stickers.

SC game warden hassled me for no outboard registration. You can't register an outboard in Georgia. How am I supposed to get an outboard registration on a Georgia registered boat? He didn't know, but he thought I needed one.

St gov is worse. I called SCDMV to get my mom an state Iissued id since she is too old to renew drivers license now. I was told even though she is in the system it is easier to renew her drivers license. You get all the stupid govt you pay for
