A way too early prediction of how to possibly beat Georgia.

Based on what we saw offensively in the Gator Bowl, particularly if Mafah and or Shipley come back, and hopefully with an improved offensive line, and with the addition of some speed at wide receiver, beating Georgia will still be a tall order. Trying to win that game straight up in the trenches just will likely not happen. To prioritize a possible win in that game, during the off season and spring practice, (in addition to all the other hard work and preparation getting ready for a season opener) it will take:

1. Special teams-
No missed FGs and be able to flip the field on punts.
Will have to play mistake free football on special teams. We will have to have a couple of new wrinkles maybe as simply as a reverse on kick return or a fake punt or FG. Have those plays ready to go at the right opportunity.

2. Creating turnovers like we did against KY. Work hard in the offseason on DBs stripping the football after completed passes etc. Having the defensive players swarming to the ball so that they are hopefully in the right place at the right time, like Barrett Carter was in the Gator Bowl. This is possibly the great equalizer in this game, particularly it being the opener. Need to really take advantage of any turnover.

3. Offensively hopefully GR puts in something that neither Georgia nor anyone has seen from the Clemson offense since he has been there. There is no reason to hold back anything that can win this game. Need to have Georgia spending time and energy adjusting as much as possible to something during the game. Also need to use misdirection in the running game to neutralize Georgia’s speed and over pursuit. We have to RUN the football to win, and hopefully that is smashmouth with Mafah, controlling the clock and time of possession.

4. And the most difficult…try to be more ready and prepared to play than Georgia, and get off to the best start possible.

So you are saying we will need a great game plan to keep them on their heels plus play well in all three facets of the game and win the TO margin?

Make Georgia one dimensional on offense, then the Tigers show up with a fast paced offense. Will then find out which 11 players on both sides of the ball are better physically and who has the smarts.
