Is Sports Illustrated shutting down or not?

Haven't seen anyone on here talking about it. Authentic Brand Group terminated it's licensing agreement yesterday and SI laid off most of it's staff. Does this mean the end for SI? It started in August of 1954, just 7 months short of 70 years ago. Would be sad to see it go, especially after some great Clemson covers.

Know you were probably being facetious. 80s/90s I was in love (lust) with Kathy Ireland

In 2019, Sports Illustrated was sold to Authentic Brands Group, which subsequently sold its publishing rights to Arena. Arena recently missed a $3.75 million payment that broke the company’s licensing deal, prompting Authentic to revoke the publishing license, per FOS.

The report goes on to say that some employees were given 90 days’ notice and there remains a possibility that the licensing deal will be resolved during that time.

Looks like there is a slim chance of survival.

Sports Illustrated invoked woke early on. Its in depth pieces on teams and individuals and the business side throughout its history brought all sides to light. Problem is lately it's hard to find anyone who wants to spend 15 minutes in a row on those kind of stories.

SI lost it when they tried to hang too much with the live side. The mag was good and still could be. A weekly handle of sports stories.

because their news/info is old by the time an issue arrives. You can get all your sports info online in real time now. SI is a dinosaur like most magazines have become.

They have a website - si.com

But it hasn't been as popular as ESPN.com for a long time.
