A question for the old folks here...who were our football play by play

Oct 14, 2022, 7:03 AM

announcers prior to Jim Phillips? I'm pretty sure Bill Goodrich was just prior to Jim, but who was prior to him? Was it Jimmy Coggins maybe?

I’ve been around since the 60’s and Goodrich was the first that I remember ….. he always ended his show by saying “goodnight redhead”. Anyone remember that?

Goodrich and Phillips were great ones and the present one is improving

You're right about Jimmy Coggins. I think his side kick was Ed Osborn

You are correct. My roommate at CU was Ed Osborne's son.

Phillips followed Goodrich. Goodrich followed Coggins.***

Ok...so does anyone know the details on why Coggins was

Oct 14, 2022, 7:12 PM

replaced by Goodrich. I think Coggins was from Newberry, and for a good many years, I think he did play by play for little Newberry College. At one time, Newberry was the smallest school fielding a football team!
