I believe in the idea of having an identity to your program and what you do. We have developed into a program intent on fast paced, no huddle offense and aggressive defense. I like both of those. Regardless, I thought Dabo was admitting his errors in short yardage when he said it was a "horse crap" coaching job by him today. However, in his post-game press conference, he answered a question about going under center with the annoying "we do what we do" phrase and asserting that we have succeeded well in the past doing this. I understand what he is saying but believe he is getting a little stubborn about our identity and always sticking to it.
In reality, at least in critical situations, we are struggling in short-yardage goal-line offense this year. I don't believe you want to go a long way from your identity or overall vision for your program, but different opponents may require different strategies and different situations call for different tactics. We don't take victory formation snaps in the shotgun or snaps on our own 1 yd line when the game is ending in the shotgun either. You're not abandoning your identity by running a QB sneak occassionally, lining up under center some, or using a TE as a FB some. If the opponent knows what you are going to do, you will struggle to succeed. We need more flexibility inside the 5 yard line. We should be able to run basic plays that are learned in pee wee football when the situation favors those tactics. Ultimately, I don't care how you score; run triple reverses if it will work. Regardless, our coaches need to at least be willing to examine their tactics inside the 5 yard line and look for better results because it isn't working well right now and has been costly.

Correct. Lots of things "work" against inferior opponents, defined as those where most if not all of your guys can physically dominate the other guys. If you can't do that all of the time, and you wont' against similar talent, you need to do something different to give your guys the best chance to win.

He also said something about how we've been successful in short yardage over the past few years (probably not exactly right). He just left out the part about Boyd running in short yardage.
