A few stats from last year to ponder

Aug 7, 2021, 3:51 PM

I know these are different teams and a different year, but it seems like the way UGA will try to beat us is to put a ton of pressure on our OL and QB because they have this great DL and our OL is our weak link. They have a great OL so they don’t think we can do the same

Some stats from last year. Note that we passed a ton more than they did, their strength is the run game and our OL will be better this year, if for no other reason, we can’t be worse. Right?

Sacks By - CU had 3.83 per game (#5 nationally) and UGA had 3.2 (#11)

Sacks allowed - CU allowed 1.67 per game (#32) and UGA allowed 2.0 (#48)

Tackles for loss by - CU had 9.1 per game (#3) and UGA had 6.2 (#60)

They did get us in TFL allowed 4.5 (#17) to 5.42 (#44)

I guess my point here is that our DL comes back a year older and stronger and our QB gets the ball out quick and will not go down with an arm tackle. Also our scheme and coaching must be superior if we do better without all that SEC talent

I’m sure the argument will be our schedule but we played ND twice and OSU. Also, Tennessee says hey. That game accounted for a large portion of their TFL and sacks

Sorry if Germans but I’m Jonesing for football

I respect the effort you've put into this

But it really doesn't translate well unless you're only comparing last years "shared" opponents.
What would our stats have been in their schedule, us in theirs...
Did we share a similar opponent last year?

Add on that this year's team and last year's are different too.

It's fun to look at and try to project..
Can't wait to see it actually play out.

Go Tigers!

Our OL last year was pretty solid in pass blocking, in my opinion.

There were a disaster in run blocking, that's true.

Good post. Your thinking helps me think.

One thing I kinda see different is as to:

"Also our scheme and coaching must be superior if we do better without all that SEC talent"

It is obvious that we have better coaching than UGA, it aint close.
While places like ESPN might see our talent level as less than SEC, I think ours is better.

There is no need to ponder. Last years stats are last years stats. They will have no bearing on this game what -so-ever!
