It’s starting to show why we lost last year and struggle this year. We need a single New OC.

Some of the playcalling was offensive.

But there's a method to the madness. We're training star players for later in the year and some for next year and the following years. The old folks use to say 'You have to break some eggs to bake a cake.'

Our OC's don't turn pages in the playbook any further than necessary to win games. We keep a lot of stuff in our hip pocket to pull out fresh plays at the end of the season. I'm fine with pacing ourselves if it helps us win more games later.

Anybody with any sort of criticism/unpopular opinion gets slammed on here, but I agree with you. I know it’s not smart to empty the playbook against inferior competition early in the season, but that’s not what a lot of us are looking for. The same plays with just a little splash of creativity would do wonders, but for some reason, our OC’s are determined to run the same plays, from the same formations, even with the same players. It’s agonizing. Yeah, we win games based on talent alone, but we make our defense sweat way more than they should have to. A little more creativity/innovation would really put teams away, especially with our offensive talent, and allow for Dabo to really work depth in. I don’t think we should get rid of TE and JS, but something needs to be tweaked and improved, not completely changed. However, I wouldn’t mind ever seeing a bubble screen/QB draw ever again for the rest of my life.

Saying we win on talent alone

is ridiculous. Football doesnt work that way. The offense is fine and will show more plays as needed and as guys develop.

I see what you’re saying, but it’s been mostly talent for a couple of years now. DW hid a lot of the shortcomings of the playcalling, especially later in his career when he would check out of things and change plays at the line of scrimmage very frequently. But, if you watch the bubble screens for example, the scheme is terrible. The blocking almost never holds and the ball gets there late. The only reason it works is because of the talent (I.e. Renfrow vs. USCjr last year on the screen that went for 60+). I’m not saying, like some, that everything is terrible and needs to be replaced, just tweaked. Change up some formations, don’t run the same play from the same look every time.

Mostly talent? Just take a look at the offense over at FSU currently with all the talent they have.

You state some plays such as the one by Renfrow last year against South Carolina only because of the talent. Isn't that the coaches doing their job? Calling plays that work within the talents of the guys on the field? Sounds like in that example, the coaches called a play they knew could result in a big gain based on the players they had out on the field, and it worked.

there are good players making good plays. We self scout and change (tweak) as needed. Theres a reason we're one of the two best teams in the country the last 5 years, and its not because we have the 2nd best roster of players. Just stop already. You're trying way too hard.
