500 straight sell outs

At the start of the Miami at Duke game, ESPN just said that today was the 500th straight sellout at Duke. That is a crazy stat.

WOW it’s impressive that they keep finding 2,000 people to

Fill that middle school gym.

Seating capacities:
Cameron indoor 9,324
Dean Smith center 21,750
Rupp Arean (UK) 23,500
Phog Allen (KU) 16,300
Joel Coliseum (Wake) 14,665 - Wake has half as many students as Duke

Color me unimpressed with their streak

So it is slightly bigger than Littlejohn. Everyone saying

they are unimpressed are just showing their absurd jealousy.

We’re not the comparison for them. Duke has made 9 final

Jan 21, 2023, 1:58 PM

Fours in the span of time that streak emcompasses; the 3 teams I listed first are their cohort group. All of their peers have significantly larger venues; most even double the capacity. If Alabama removed 40,000 seats from Bryant Denny stadium would you be impressed about a sell out streak of any length?

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A sellout of 32 years? Yes I would.***

Wrong littlejohn has a capacity of slightly over 10,000

Capacity is 9000.
But I do remember the Duke game when over 13,000 crammed into the building to watch Clemson defeat #1 Duke.

The capacity at Littlejohn Coliseum before renovation was 10,638. When they renovated the arena, they rotated the court, added "luxury seating area," and improved sight lines, all of which reduced the capacity to 9,000.

It was said they crammed nearly 14,000 (13,864) in there for the upset of Duke in 1980.

Hard to believe that Cameron Indoor Stadium now has a larger capacity than renovated Littlejohn Coliseum. From viewing it on TV, it sure doesn't look like it would seat more.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Highly populated area, and only about 9,000 capacity.***

Blue devil troll? A duuush?

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It’s stupid to dismiss any sellout streak of 32 years.

Jan 21, 2023, 2:47 PM

If that means you need to show more stupidity go right ahead. Enjoy your preferred echo chamber.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What’s stupid is to think it would be any different at KU,UK

Or UNC if their arenas were half the sizes they are now. There is nothing impressive about selling out a bandbox. Here’s an idea let’s play our football home games at Furman’s stadium and then puff out our chests when we sell out every game for the rest of time. Seriously dude; I don’t understand what you don’t understand. Their chief rival 9 miles away has enough ticket demand to support a 21,000 seat arena and we’re supposed to be impressed that they can sell out a 9,000 seat arena? I’ll pass.

Not sure how many of those seats are for students. Seems like a lot of students and does not seem at least from tv a lot of gen admission seats. Never been just has always been my observation from tv.

Students only get about half the bleacher seating ringing

the court. So they get a fair amount, but not an overly disproportionate amount. Theirs are general admission, but not others.

Kansas and Dook Football was a sellout this year.

Jan 21, 2023, 3:24 PM

That's why they do not build a bigger gym. Seating capacity there is only 200.

500 is an impressive number but easy to accomplish when you as much success as Duke they enjoyed under Coach K.

Nebraska football has 389 straight sellouts dating to November 1962.
