247Sports projects Top 5 coaches in future

247Sports did some future projecting, and came up with a list of five coaches they think will be leading the sport in five years.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney ranked fifth in 247Sports' rankings for 2024, but he doesn't have a spot in the future-focused list, which is 5. Steve Sarkisan (Texas), 4. Mike Norvell (FSU), 3. Ryan Day (Ohio State), 2. Dan Lanning (Oregon) and 1. Kirby Smart (Georgia).

Impressive list and hard to argue with any of them, but Dabo will play just as important a role in the future as any of them if he chooses to coach another 5 years. 2 moths ago Saban would have been on that list. And Harbaugh. 6 months ago Lincoln Riley would have been on the list. We don't even know what tomorrow holds, much less 5 years from now.

If I were to take guess, I would say Norvell will disappear and Lanning we find the going very tough in the B1G and not have a bunch of clout in 5 years. And Dabo will still be around and he along with Kirby, Day and Sarkisian will be the elder statesmen of CFB.

The most notable thing Sark has done in his career to date is deliver a drunken speech to USC alums and get fired. Ring me when he wins A trophy, let alone several.

2 through 5 have not accomplished much to date. The only thing Kirby has accomplished is to appeal to the base desires of his players and fanbase.

Norvell is nothing without the portal and Day is a jerk. Neither should be in the top five.
