To everyone getting all upity about Edmond being 3 stars...

Let's keep this in mind:
former 3 star recruits: Spencer Shuey, Gaines Adams.
Former 2 star recruits: Adam Humphries, Andre Branch, Tyler Grisham (an all time personal favorite of mine), Aaron Kelly, Phillip Merling, Duane Coleman.
Former 4 star recruits: Jamie Harper, Bryce McNeal, Cortez Davis, Lateek Townsend
Former 5 star recruit: Mike Bellamy.
I say this not to say that high ranked players will flop and low ranked players will play well above their billing (obviously, James Davis, CJ Spiller, Jacoby Ford, Nuke, and Sammy Watkins have lived up to the hype...), but these star ratings posted by the recruiting boards look nice on paper, but our coaches are not looking at that, they are analyzing the players themselves, and seeking players that fit in the system. We have one of the best recruiting staffs in the country. To those on these boards that think they could do it better, Stop. Just stop. No, really. You're being dumb.

A valid point all the same, though. Coty was only a 2 star. A lot of people on this board would crucify our staff for wasting a scholarship on such a waste of space...

thanks interesting and good points. I had forgotten how some of those were ranked. just shows there is much more than some abstract ranking to determine who is good and who isnt

I wish I could get on a diet like this Edmonds is going to be on for the next two years. Milk shakes on demand, all the Steaks coaches can force down him and sugar coated everything!!

If he is just putting on fat then there is no point in gaining weight at all. I bet he will get used to eating grilled chicken and fish and high protein vegetables and snacks

Bottom line is he has elite speed, good hips and with some S&C work, will probably be a C. Sensabaugh type of player if we coach him up.
I'm fine--no--happy--with his recruitment.

Stars are great....on paper!
These star studded recruits will STILL have to prove themselves wherever they end up.
Sure, it will be great to add Adams, Lawson, Alexander, etc, etc.....IF they come with passion, heart, drive, and motivation to be successful.
Otherwise, they are just a waste of time and space. I would rather have a roster full of 3* recruits willing to work their tails off, helping the team WIN vs a roster of "High School hotshits" that think WE owe them playing time because they were 4*/5*.....in high school!!
For sake of argument (go ahead let the "flames" fly) what's to say Robert Nkedmechie wont be a total bust and everybody got their panties in an uproar....over squat??
Give me kids like Boulware, Jadar Johnson and M. Williams all day long!!

Are often more telling than stars. Don't really care a guys star rating, often the best indicator is who else has offered. This guy could wind up being a great player but his offers leave a lot to be desired.
