4-star 2018 outside linebacker Payton Wilson from Hillsborough, North Carolina (Orange HS) announced his top four schools with Clemson, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Virginia Tech making the final cut.
In 2016, Wilson had 127 tackles including 39 for loss, 13 sacks, one interception, four passes defended and a blocked field goal. On offense, he had 84 rushes for 756 yards and six touchdowns and 13 catches for 305 yards and four scores. He was named NCPreps All-State, N&O Player of the Year, and Big 8 Defensive Player of the year after the season. Wilson has national offers from Alabama, Appalachian State, Auburn, Charlotte, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia State, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin. East Carolina was the first to offer. He was recently committed to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and plans reportedly to announce his college decision on May 1.
