Clemson defensive tackle commit Darnell Jefferies was named Region 8 7A Defensive Player of the Year on Thursday.
Jefferies tweeted the following after hearing about winning the individual honor. "All Glory to God, without him nothing is possible. Football is HARD WORK training, practice, and preparation. No summer breaks, no weekends off, very little downtime," Jefferies posted. "I wouldn't change a thing! Love what I do...I'm built for this!" #Appreciative #ClemsonBound #ContinuiousGrind In his last high school game, Jefferies had a touchdown catch with 15 seconds left that forced overtime, but his Newton Rams fell in overtime, 42-35, in a playoff game versus Parkview (Ga.). Jefferies went into the game with 58 tackles including an impressive 20 of those for loss. WATCH ??: @BigBaby_90 with a spectacular catch to set up the game tying extra point!!!
