Rockets assign K.J. McDaniels to NBA D-league |
Former Clemson star K.J. McDaniels was assigned to Houston's NBA D-League team Rio Grande Valley as announced by the team on Wednesday.
McDaniels had played in three NBA games this season after signing a three-year, $10 million deal with the Rockets during the offseason. The high-flying 6-6, 205 pound wing finished his rookie season averaging 7.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. He played in only 10 out of 29 games with the Rockets (including the postseason) and logged 33 total minutes (1.13 minutes per game) since the trade from Philadelphia. He was a first-team All-ACC selection and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013-14 while at Clemson. He led the Tigers in points (614), rebounds (255), blocks (100), steals (41) and three-pointers (42) - the only player in the country to lead his team in all five categories. The first 2015-2016 regular season game of the Grande Valley Vipers will be on Friday.
