fielded pretty clean and fielder wasn’t that deep - seems dumb to me

This. Hindy may have gone on his own, so no need to blame coach there. But it was not a smart attempt. Short RF to a kid w solid arm who was coming in on it (momentum). Was out by 5 feet. 1st inning, early in lineup w good hitters up against Sunday pitcher. No need to push that.

Okay couple of things

1. How do you know it was Hindy that made the decision to go for third?
2. The throw beat him 5 steps. The ball could have been high or low as long as it was caught he was out. It didn't take a perfect throw

Okay in the last three games I can point to at least 4 runs that Nick Schnabel either waved home when he shouldn't have or held up a runner when he shouldn't have that cost us.
