What to do, Jounge

Greenr has an event tomorrow morning. The event is a 5K. The Event is in Charlotte. The event is a cancer fundraiser which we have done the last 3 years in honor of Mom. She wanted to do it but died before she could attend.
HIGH chance of rain tomorrow. Race goes on rain or shine, but there is also a chance of thunderstorms. We live 3.5 hours away from the race, we gotta leave at like 4:30 AM and wife and I are going to a concert tonight.
My middle son has 2 soccer games and daughter has one soccer game we would have to miss tomorrow if we end up going. It aint gonna rain here.
We have already paid the money to run, so the donation has been made.
My brothers both will be there. Older brother brings friends. Usually we tailgate and get drunk afterwards, but the weather is probably going to kill that plan too. I will see them both in early June at my niece's graduation party.
What would you do, if you were me, Jounge? Eating a bag of di>cks is a valid option but rest assured, I cannot procure an entire bag by tomorrow morning. Drive 7 hours to run 30 minutes in the rain but show up, or tell them we are outty 5000 and get our own stuff handled here at home?

as dumb as it sounds, I'd do the run. Show the kids that honoring family is the top priority. And this is coming from a scokker coach

100% be doing that one, just like last year.
I agree with you about honoring family, so that is where I am struggling with what to do.

Go viral, profit, and you can afford as many bags of dinks as you want. Also, streaking is probably just a ticket, so you should be able to make the soccer games.

slackers, go do the rest of the stuff you've got going on.
Donation has been made, you'll have extra punishment from the extra 5k, your kids won't have to miss something they care about (?) for something that may not be fun for them?

You're providing all of the justifications for and reasons why skipping it

would be acceptable, so just skip it. You're an adult.
The only possible issue is that you're providing tacit approval of cancer by not showing up, and cancer will note your actions (or inaction, as it were).
But seriously, 7 hours of driving to run a couple miles in the rain? Nah.

Take kids to scokker, run 5k around the field while watching them. Donation already made, box checked for running.
Take kids to restaurant and spend $75 on chicken fingers and mac and cheese.
Go home and get shatfaced.

Next year, donate double and skip the running. That's my mantra.
