Jeff Scott back for WR development and offensive recruiting.
I feel like we’re getting worked in recruiting (yes I know it’s early) but I’m tired of our first and second options choosing other schools and we have to settle for 3,4,5.

It has been better. Look at our WR's now compared to Nuke, Watkins, etc.

JK is being his/her typical smartass due to "it's" jealousy, animosity, and inferiority complex to the football program.

You’re being sarcastic but actually yes, on paper, we have never had a better team: https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/2022 College Football Team Talent Composite In order to create the most comprehensive Team Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Team Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Composite Rating. than in the last 3 years. All three were top 5 in the composite talent index. Which suggests that maybe star rankings aren’t everything that they’re made out to be and that there is something to be said for having a slightly lowered composite score and having to go dig a little deeper amongst slightly lower ranked recruits. The two national championship squads ranked 9th and 6th.

Jeff Scott was a top shelf recruiter but that was before NIL. The WR is considered a premium position, so it attracts major NIL offers. This means our WR recruit board will consist of something less than the 5* Sammy and Tee type of players. Perhaps Jeff could help get more of the high 4* type of guys but in the last class we signed three really good ones without him.

Interesting angle regarding the Pre-NIL recruiting.
A few good points have been made so far in fact.
Can't wait to see. I am on board with the idea of it improving "by scheme"! Remember something folks; Clemson took on beat up on Alabama with it's offense. Same thing Ohio State. So, it was studied and dissected to no end; because we were not player to player "as talented"! We were close; but not in the top 3 with those schools.
I think getting a chance to go against future NFL caliber DB's can only make you better! Also, OSU and Bama and Georgia can still only sign so many, no? So, really good players are still out there and Clemson is no "po-shack"! We have talent and I think it's going to shine through this season for various reasons!

We may not have been more talented overall, on paper.

But we had elite talent where it really counted. Having Watson or Lawrence at QB, Etienne at RB, Williams and Ross at WR, Wilkins and Ferrell on the DL, etc., was the difference in those games.
Talent matters most, and we had loads of it.
It doesn’t feel like we have that level of talent (or production) lately.

So you concede that you were wrong about the appraised talent on our team? Grown ups can control their feelings. So when you say it doesn’t “feel” like we’re very talented what you’re really admitting is that you choose to feel negatively about Dabo’s program.

Not sure how you've come to that conclusion?

In Grisham's first year he turned Cornell Powell into a draft pick and nearly doubled Amari's output in route to a higher draft pick than he would have had. In Grisham's first year as WR coach, 2020, WE HAD THE MOST PRODUCTIVE PASSING GAME IN CLEMSON HISTORY.
In years 2 and 3 under Grisham, we've been handicapped by a QB who had trouble locating open WRs and then had trouble getting it to them accurately once he did find them. It plagued us for two full seasons. We could have 5 Tee Higgins and the QB still wouldn't have done better.
When Cade came in end of year, did the WRs magically improve, or did they have a QB who could but time then find receivers, then more importantly throw it accurately when he did find them. That was the difference.
I am fully confident we'll see a HUGE jump in WR efficiency. With Rileys scheme and a great/elite QB manning the position, people won't be calling out WRs anymore.
The issue was a poor passing game due to a poor QB. Period.

Agreed concerning wide receivers. As long as we can keep them healthy. That's been an issue for a couple years.
